Just when you think you've heard it all!

This was on tonight's local news. It is just heartbreaking!

LANSDALE, Pa. February 22, 2002 — A legally blind former mayoral candidate accused of kicking and dragging his own guide dog to death was arraigned Thursday on a misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals.

Craig Miller, 42, got the $25,000 black Labrador guide dog named Inky from the Lions Club about four years ago. About two weeks ago, police arrived at his home after a 911 call and found Miller in his garage trying to resuscitate the dog.
Sgt. Dean Miller, a Lansdale police spokesman, said officers found blood around Craig Miller's home and investigated further.

Craig Miller was walking home from a bar before the incident, police said, but his blood alcohol level was not taken because he was not driving.

Miller told police he never intended to injure the animal and that the death was accidental, police said in court papers.

Police said that about a week after Inky's death, Miller confessed to kicking the dog because he was frustrated.

    You said it Spencer!
Only an idiot would hurt (and kill) an innocent animal. Didn't he feel even a little bit of grateful for the help the dog gave? NO!

I absolutely agree with you all!

In Holland there was a case of 2 women throwing a Bordeaux Dogge over a fence as garbage. The adult dog was covered with infected wounds and had a weight of only 14 kilo! My friend has a dog like that who is 65 kilo....

We live in a cruel world and humans like that will get their punishment sooner or later.

You all feel exactly as I did when I saw this on television. It was even worse because there was a picture of Inky in happier days! Years ago I used to take the train to work into Philadelphia. A blind man always got on at my stop with his German Shepherd guide dog and they always sat right across from me. You could just see the complete devotion and loyalty in that dog's eyes as he would look up at his human. These dogs are heroes!!! How could anyone ever do this??? It showed him on TV walking into court with a cane, thank God!!!

Inky will go to the Rainbow Bridge, but he will not be meeting up with that horrid, drunkin monster because I doubt he's even going to heaven!!!

Poor dog. Those dogs are so noble and proud, and to have his owner, his love, his world, beat him to death is the cruelest of acts. I am just sick. If that monster ever gets another dog (which I am CERTAIN he will not be given the opportunity ever again) then I would almost consider going to his home and rescuing it from such a thing ever happening again.

Spencer, you said it well...that man can rot in hell for all I care.

I will never understand human cruelty to animals and especially in this case when we all know the dog was devoted to this man., there to help him with getting along in life. Well for one thing, it shows what excessive drinking can do and I would not want to live with this mans concience for the rest of his life. I agree with everyone here.
