My trip to Connecticut MIGHT have yet another purpose...

I was talking to one of the women I worked with at the Hartford Courant. It seems the woman who took my place when I left has quit, because she has Lupus. She was a 74 year old woman who worked as an independent contractor. They now have one of the clerks from another bureau filling in (and paying her tons of overtime) until a replacement can be found.

Get where I'm going with this??? I called my former supervisor this morning and told her I wanted my old job back. She said we'd talk when I got into Connecticut. She is going to talk to the Managing Editor, who is on vacation till Monday. I gave her the reasons.

    1. I'm already trained
    2. I'm a good writer
    3. I'm a hard worker
    4. I know how to write obituary stories
    5. I'm willing to write MY "Pet of the Week" column as part of my job duties.
    6. Everyone at the newspaper likes me.

She asked me when I'd be willing to move back to CT. I told her the minute I got the job.

So, we'll have to see what happens. Heck, I'll put all my stuff in storage and live in a hotel till I can find a decent place to live.

Keep your fingers crossed guys. While I have made some friends here, *clicking heels* There's no place like home!!!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

May I ask why you moved to Michigan from Connecticut in the first place? I moved to Michigan from Rhode Island back in 1966, when my first husband got out of the Navy and went to Grad School.

Then I married Douglas - born and raised in A2. I'm stuck - but would do almost anything if I could only move back East. There are times when the homesickness is almost overwhelming.

Oh Donna, I'm saying some very special prayers for you. If you want to move back to CT then go for it. Afterall, I would love to be able to come over and visit with all your babies.
