    Update on Puddy

    Hi Friends,
I took the Pudilator in to get her sutures removed today and she was almost her old self. The vet tech picked her up to take her in the back room to remove them and the foolish woman put her face too close to Puddy. I started to say "Did you read what's written on her chart?" (NOT PEOPLE FRIENDLY; A PISTOL ) but it was too late. Puddy took a swing. She missed but I couldn't help laughing. That was the sign I was looking for. I could hear her in the back room just carrying on something fierce and Dr. Lee came back and said "I feel for ya." That made me laugh, too. I said "I know how to handle her." He said "That's good because you've got some meds to give her. Do you want pills or liquid?" I do better w/liquid where Pud is concerned except that Prednisolone tastes bad. If it tastes as bad as it smells, it smells like BO. Ugh! When I put her back in the carrier, I said "Are you mad at me?" and I started to give her head scritchies and she hissed and swatted at me. Beautiful! Made my day! And the best news is that Dr. Lee said that she's doing so well that I don't have to start her on SQ fluids right now. He said that at some point he knows I will but not now.

So, once again, prayer , my PT family, and a really intuitive and skilled vet saved the day. And my Puddy. And I am indeed grateful.

    Blessings,
    Mary

Thank you for the Puddy update!!! Glad that she is doing well and doesn't need the SubQ fluuids yet. Sounds like she is being quite the "Puddy", which is what you want her to be!! Glad there was no serious injuries! Puddy, be a good girl! Everyone is trying to help, but I am glad you are a fighter!

yeaaaaa.... I am soooo happy Mary. That has to be such a weight off your shoulders. What a fighter you are Puddy. Lots and lots of head scritchies, tummy rubs and treats. You are a wonderful girly. And good job Dr. Lee you saved Puddy and the day.

    Hi again,
Been thinkin' that maybe I should 'splain why Puddy is the way she is. I got her when she was only 5 weeks old. She was rejected by her mom because she was born w/a leg that stuck out to the side, kind of like a wing of sorts. And she has spiny growths on her back and tail and her other paws are rather messed up, too; claws that grow thick and funny. The people who had her at the time took her to their vet who wanted to put her to sleep. When they said 'no', he then put a metal splint on her leg and she dragged it around like the mummy walks. Well, they then decided that they didn't want to keep her so my son's friend found out about it and she said "Let my friend, Mary see her." I picked her up and said "OMG! You're just adorable" and she hissed at me. I knew right then that I had to take her home w/me.

My vet removed the splint and it had rubbed through clear to the bone and she had an infection from it. He treated it and said "This needs to stay off. She's going to walk w/a limp. Can you live w/it?" I said "Hey, if she can live w/it, I can live w/it." He told me that because she was the runt of the litter and was born w/birth defects that she might not live a long life. Eleven years later and she's still kickin'!

Just thought I should tell you all why Pud is the way she is. I may have made it sound as though she's just a mean little cat. She's more than that. She's the Pud.

    Blessings,
    Mary

Oh Mary! Poor Puddy, sounds like she had quite the rough beginning. I am so glad that you 2 found each other. She is a tough little girl and that is what has kept her around this long and I am sure that it will keep her around many more years. Bless you for saving her.

Oh Mary, bless you for taking in this little angel and showing her what love is. What a horrible beginning.

So good to hear that Puddy is returning to her normal "hissy" self. Hang in their Puddy.
