Yesterday was Gavin's second birthday, and since I didn't have access to a computer until last night, I thought I would just post it today.
Two and a half years ago, my sister told us she was pregnant. I was so excited I was about to burst, so were my parents and my brother, but you could tell, she was a little scared. At first glance, my sister may not look like the type of person to give birth, and believe me, living with her only made that perception even more true! I never in my life thought she would have a child, and when she did, I was excited beyond BELIEF.
My mother called us one day and said, "Hey guess what? Your sister is in labor." I nearly passed out... LABOR! The baby was COMING! I was on cloud 9 all day knowing that my first nephew was coming!
The labor went on into the wee hours of the night. My dad told us to go to sleep, that the baby would surely be here in the morning. So I went to sleep, as fast as I could (like on Christmas Eve! Things always come faster the faster you fall asleep!)
I woke up the next morning and my dad told me we were going to see the baby!
We rushed to the hospital, and there he was... all wrapped in a white blanket, sleeping on my sisters stomach. The second I held him I knew I was in love... I didn't want to give him back, much less leave, but I knew I had to.
To this day he has brought nothing but JOY to my life. Through my parents split, through EVERYTHING... he has always been a shining star in my life. I don't know where I would be without him. I love him more than I love life itself, and I would give anything within my power to make him happy. It sure has been a life changing experience for me. I am now more responsible, more prompt, and more happy as a person. I have babysat him about 3 days a week since the day he was born and I wouldn't have it any other way.
My sister and brother-in-law appreciate all the work they do for me, they surprised me at Gavin's party by telling me they bought me my first car. I was astonished... but thats the relationship we have with each other, and again, I wouldn't have it ANY OTHER WAY.
Happy Birthday Gavin, I love you so much and I hope you don't hit the terrible twos as fast as some!
