Bad idea? Or a good learning experience?

I was just thinking, after CathyBogart posted about her new addition, Liberty, adn him coming from a school.

In our Science class, we have an annol (sp?) it is a very small lizard. Anyways, at the end of the year, the put names in a hat, and then whoevers name gets drawn, gets to take the lizard home over summer vacation. I was just thinking, what if the people have no idea how to take care of it? They just give it to them, expecting them to know? I think it's a bad idea, I was just wondering what you guys and girls thought...?

Probably a good idea if the person is given proper instructions on how to go about it. They would need someone that they could call for advice too it seems. It would be a good learning experience if the correct support and advice is given.
