    Storm cloud pics

We've had so many storms rolling in and out lately I've really gotten to watching the clouds and I am constantly awed by the magnificence and beauty of them. I had a good opportunity this evening because the storm was coming from a direction that was fairly clear of trees so that I could get some good shots of the clouds. The first one however is from a couple days ago when there was a beautiful sunset against the clouds right after a storm had gone through.

The rest are from this evening.

The sun peeked out just once more before being overtaken

Had to head in after that one, it was starting to get rough out and lightning makes me nervous!

oh wow, those are gorgeous pictures!!

I love to look at storm clouds, but I HATE storms. When we have storms come through, Boomer and I usually snuggle up under a blanket and wait for them to pass. Thankfully we don't have to worry about tornadoes or anything here! I'd much rather deal with the earthquakes or typhoons than with a tornado!!!

I think storms with intense lightning spook me more than tornadoes do. I've had some close call experiences with lightning several times. It struck our chain link fence when my mom and I were headed under the house for a tornado warning (in MO), it struck a metal street sign behind me when I was walking home from the bus stop and the power of it knocked me off my feet even though it was several feet away, I still remember the sparks fountaining off of it and raining around me. And it struck a house across the street from us starting the house on fire. So I am definitely more shaky around heavy lightning! The clouds are beautiful, it's hard to fully capture their majesty in a picture but the ones I got tonight turned out pretty well overall.

Beautiful shots! It's been storming here lately too --- We had a lightening storm the other night. I love watching the lightening, but I'm afraid of it too. I used to sit on my roof and watch it but now I'm afraid I'll be hit lol.

Wow! You got some beautiful shots there! I especially like # 4. It's certainly fit for a photo competition.

In # 7 and 8, it looks like a tornado is forming.

I too love to sit and watch storms - in a dry place! We have not had severe storms in Denmark, although we had a pretty bad one the very first time Fister had to go to a pension.

Thank you for the compliments . Randi I actually really like #4 too, I'm using the full size of it as my desktop today . We did have a tornado watch out at the time that was moving in. My heart was really in my throat as the clouds were really swirling around up there and some were dipping down a bit. On the #6 one, I looked straight up and those clouds were swirling and roiling around so much that I aimed the camera straight up and shot them. Of course it's hard to tell it from a still shot. One time when the wind suddenly whipped up to gale force I nearly turned and ran back for the house LOL . I just can't help my fascination with watching it though!
