    3 newbies

As I was saying before a lightning storm so rudely interrupted my writing, I figured out that my mom's fish is an immature female so I can't breed Depot today. So I went to the pet store and bought three new goldies. I'm hoping the albino is a boy. I think the two calico coloured ones are girls but its hard to tell when they are small. No names yet as I don't know that they will all live. Anyway, the fish at this pet store are normally real good but this tank had some fish lice (I think). The three I got don't have anything on them. I plan to change out the water in the qurentine tank often for the next week or so until I know its clean. I was just wondering if anyboy has dealt with fish lice before. Sorry I don't have pictures I can't take good tank pics.

Ok so its been a day and a half and they look healthy as my other fish. I shouldn't name them yet because they still may belly up in the next week or so but... I broke that rule. The two calicos are Bristol and Frock and the albino is Patron Alabaster. Don't ask. I've never seen goldfish that are so attached to each other. They swim in a group around their little tank and they rest together and if one swims to the top the other two are right next to it. So cute. People must think I'm nuts for getting attached to fish.

I don't think you're silly for getting attached to fish. I had a goldfish that died at 5 years and was so sad when she died I don't know anything about the lice you're talking about so can't offer any help, all I've ever dealt with was ick. I do know it is hard to find healthy goldfish sometimes! I hope all of your little fishys do well!

I'm pretty sure golfish only breed in the wild. If you had a pond that would work, but not in a fishtank. Why are you breeding them? Have you done it before?

If they have some sort of parasite you will need medication cleaning the tank won't work. I'm not sure about lice though cuz I've never heard of it. Good luck with the new fish.

I have a small pond and plenty of room for babies. Depot, my four-year-old goldie, lays eggs in her tank all the time so I don't forsee any trouble breeding in a tank so long as I move the eggs to a different tank, Depot likes to eat them. I'm hoping to get some real good colours from her babies. We move them into the pond in summer and in tanks in winter. Recently my sister go a new fish and didn't quarentine so it killed off some of my mom's older fish. All she has left is a female comet mix of sorts so there is empty room. So far the new fish seem healthy but they will be in the quarentine tank for a month at least so no babies until then.
