Logic Puzzle: "Who Owns the Zebra"

You'll be surprised to hear that it's not Ramanth's aunt ...

As posted earlier, this puzzle's came from a magazine in the early sixies. (You'll probably notice several old brand names. I thought about updating it, but left it alone except for making one pet a pot bellied pig. Long story...) It's the first logic puzzle I ever saw and I fell in love with the format. Hope you enjoy it, too.

If you need help, or want confirmation of your answer, please Personal Message me. Thanks!

This can be solved by combining the following 15 clues via deduction, analysis, and sheer persistence.

    1. There are five houses in a row, each of which is a different color and inhabited by men of different nationalities, with different pets, preferred drinks and cigarette brands.

    2. The Englishman lives in the red house.

    3. The Spaniard owns the pot bellied pig.

    4. Coffee is drunk in the green house.

    5. The Ukranian drinks tea.

    6. The green house is immediately on the right (your right) of the ivory house.

    7. The Old Gold smoker owns the snails.

    8. Kools are smoked in the yellow house.

    9. Milk is drunk in the middle house.

    10. The Norwegian lives in the first house on the left.

    11. The man who smokes Chesterfields lives in the house next to the man with the fox.

    12. Kools are smoked in the house next to the house where the horse in kept.

    13. The Lucky Strike smoker drinks orange juice.

    14. The Japanese man smokes Parliaments.

    15. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.

Who drinks water? And who owns the zebra?

House colors: Blue, Green, Ivory, Red, Yellow

Nationalities: English, Japanese, Norweigian, Spaniard, Ukranian

Pets: Fox, Horse, Pot-bellied Pig, Snails, Zebra

Drinks: Coffee, Milk, Orange juice, Tea, Water

Cigarettes: Chesterfields, Kools, Lucky Strikes, Old Gold, Parliaments

I have subscribed in the past, but now just get one occasionally when I'm shopping. I think my favorite is called "Best English Logic Puzzles" that probably aren't from the U.K., judging by the way they translate bobby, football, lift, Bank Holiday... [They may be written in the U.K. but must be annotated/published in the U.S. ... That sure came out backwards! ] My favorite ones have solving grids -- how about you?

It's not that I'm not interested, but I've never tried a puzzle like this before. Not sure if I'd be able to figure it out... but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do one. I'm sure others would like to play.

Ohhh, you've broken the 800 message mark!!!

    Forwarded addendum clue #16.

This is a tricky puzzle, don't be hard on yourself.

(It is a fun one though, right?)

P.S. I asked my friend about vets in your new home town. She wants to recommend a great one, but needs to verify the name... Talk to you soon.
