As posted earlier, this puzzle's came from a magazine in the early sixies. (You'll probably notice several old brand names. I thought about updating it, but left it alone except for making one pet a pot bellied pig. Long story...) It's the first logic puzzle I ever saw and I fell in love with the format. This can be solved by combining the following 15 clues via deduction, analysis, and sheer persistence.
1. There are five houses in a row, each of which is a different color and inhabited by men of different nationalities, with different pets, preferred drinks and cigarette brands.
2. The Englishman lives in the red house.
3. The Spaniard owns the pot bellied pig.
4. Coffee is drunk in the green house.
5. The Ukranian drinks tea.
6. The green house is immediately on the right (your right) of the ivory house.
7. The Old Gold smoker owns the snails.
8. Kools are smoked in the yellow house.
9. Milk is drunk in the middle house.
10. The Norwegian lives in the first house on the left.
11. The man who smokes Chesterfields lives in the house next to the man with the fox.
12. Kools are smoked in the house next to the house where the horse in kept.
13. The Lucky Strike smoker drinks orange juice.
14. The Japanese man smokes Parliaments.
15. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
Who drinks water? And who owns the zebra?
