Would you take your dog on a plane?
I want to take Cagney with me when I go to visit my grandparents but I'm scared something will happen to him. It is a short plane ride (1hr) or so.
No I wouldn't
Yes I would!

Yes i would. My RB dalmatian and Bear went on a 9 hr. plane ride to Germany, and they did wellThey've been on alot of plane rides so i have experience with this.
I would make sure Cagney is well enough to fly first. So i would ask the vet to make sure he is good to go.Just to be safe. His crate has to be big enough so he can turn around. Most of the time, people come on the plane to tell us that our pets are safely under.Dont be worried.Make sure he has comfy blankets and water!and no food.
I wasn't sure how to vote. I might on a 1 hour or less flight, but I don't trust the airplane companies to take care of my dog on a longer flight.

I've always been afraid to put my dog on a plane but I'm going to put Tango on the plane when I go to Cali PT meeting. Also when I'm older I'd like to compete seriously in Agility and I'll probably have to fly my dogs to certain places depending on where we have to go.

At first just the very thought of putting him under the plane SCARED ME TO DEATH! But then, I realised, those stories are only a few and even then, I am still scared. I have been trying to find a portable, battery powered camcorder that I can attatch to his crate, though, because as most of you know, I plan to seriously travel internationally with my dogs in the future.
I voted yes, I would fly my dog.

I agree. I think it's very nerve racking and scary for the dog if it would be a longer plane ride.I wasn't sure how to vote. I might on a 1 hour or less flight, but I don't trust the airplane companies to take care of my dog on a longer flight.

No, I wouldn't because like you said something could happen to him and also they just get thrown with the lugage. Do you think he would like that very much?
I love all animals to death!
I would never do anything mean or bad to an animal!
I will never forget all who have died in my arms!!
I'm So glad God created animals, I don't know how I could live without them!
Save a life, ADOPT!!
I strive SOO hard every day to be the person my pets want me to be . . .
they just dont get thrown with the luggage, theres a special spot down there that is pressurized so they can breath! Its not pressurized where the luggage is,like i said theres a spot underneath for animals.
I've never had a bad experince flying with animals,i've been flying with them since i was 2 years old.I've only flown with my dogs and cat, with Air Canada and Lufthansa, and they were very good to us.
I flew Nebo with me to Florida and back. It was a 4 hour flight, non-stop on Delta. It was very hard for me when I had to leave him but he seemed fine when I got him back. On the way home I actually was able to watch them load him in the plane from my seat and they were very careful with him and he didn't seem stressed out, he was just laying down looking around. I would much rather have him fly in the cabin with me of course, but he's too big for that. Where they put them is temperature and pressure controlled.
I would fly Nebo again, but ONLY non-stop and only if I was going to be at the destination for a considerable period of time...I think he'd rather sit through a flight then be left home away from me for weeks.
Tips for those going to fly dogs....freeze your water bottle, it will last longer (just don't drop it and break it like I did) and try putting a kong with peanut butter and treats in with them. Nebo had licked his clean so I know it kept him occupied. If you fly with Delta pay for both ways all at once, they only charge you $100 total instead of $75 each way. Oh and also make sure to get your dog used to the crate he/she is going to fly in. I had Nebo stay in his (while I'm at work, he usually stays in a different, wire crate instead of the plastic one) for a few weeks before the flight.
i wouldn't take my doggie on a plane

REST IN PEACE GRACIE. NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT I DON'T MISS YOU.
I would be worried to put Jesse on a plane, but I know that she will be taken care of. I hate leaving her behind when I go to Rachel (rizzy) house without her, but my parents will not let me take her with me...![]()
