Neighbor dilemma-and a few questions..

Okay my neighbors have had a bad thing with dogs---let me explain...the first one he had a golden retriever named Racer and kicked Racer down the stairs

my mom saw it out of the window and yelled at him saying if you do that to that poor dog again I will call the authorities on you(meaning someone who can help) Well he moved and this couple moved in and got a puppy named Scout(I think it was their friend's dog) and well he was never hurt and this wasn't the same guy just a friend that moved in and well they got one puppy then another one, one border collie and one a lab mix. Well today they were outside and it was only 25* outside and the lab got out and my mom went out and let him back in the gate, he got out again and she went to go put him back and well by the time I left for school they were still out there in the cold and well I guess they go in for 10 mins and they put them right out. My mom is worried if they go in at night? Of course us being animal lovers we worry about them they are small puppies and they shouldn't be outside w/out shelter

IMO a dog belongs inside, not outside 24/7.

What I want to know if they continue to do this, what should we do? (we have no ASPCA or animal cruelty investigators here) My mom said if we call the cops they would do something about it we hope.

My mom also said that if in the summer they keep them outside...that we'll do something about it, but if they keep leaving them outside, I will have to do something about it. I cannot stand how some people think dogs belong outside(no offense for those of you have your dogs outside, but I doubt it's 24/7--) they need to be played with which I don't see the owners paying much attention to them

I swear some people shouldn't be allowed to have animals

The ASPCA or other shelters woudlnt do jack flying squat about it anyway... if the animal/s are being fed and have water thats all they care about.

i know exactly how you feel though. our neighbors have 2 Labs and they keep them chained up all the time. but both the dogs have dog houses. i felt so sorry for the dogs during the winter time... i did call the animal shelter and thats what they told me. "if they have food and water. theres nothing we can do"

Where I live a dog must have food, water, shelter, and medical care if needed. That's it. Unfortunately there is no law saying you have to love or play with your dog.

If you call the police can they do something about them not having shelter?

As far as I know they're inside right now...but them being well fed and taken care of is BEYOND me...their yard is dirty(stuffed animal filling) and what not and my mom doesn't even know if they have their shots...man don't I wish I was an animal cruelty investigator! *sigh*

It does make ya sick when you see an animal not being cared for. All you can do is try. Can you talk to these people, maybe nicely and try to educate them?

these are the kind of people who I wouldn't *WANT* to associate with and when I walked Buster by one of their friends....he wouldn't walk by so maybe Buster thinks it's unsafe for me to be around them?

These are the people who party *hearty* on the weekend and have a whole house full when you're trying to sleep

so who knows if the dogs even get attention...you know what Dogs/any pet should come with instructions

But us humans don't come with them but why do games come with them

Oh that doesn't sound good!

Maybe you can try the police? Maybe get them some shelter. If they are letting them in the house though, even now and then, they'll just tell the police they're inside dogs and they just let them out once in awhile.
