    3 little roachies *warning pics*

I decided on the name Morty for the little boy (after Mickey Mouse's nephew and Argor Mortis). I'm saving Eulogy for one of the unborn girls from the Morty-Epitaph litter. Pics turned out horrible (donations for a digital camera appreciated ) The scanner I used was old so the pictures are small so they would fit on a disk, so I combined them into one.

They can survive even if squished...don't ask me how I know.

I too have always wanted them as pets but I am WAY too scared that they would get loose somehow. There is NO WAY I'd like to have free-roam cockroaches as pets.
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

Free-roam roaches huh. No way I'd do it either, I'd be afraid to step on them. Requiem gets the full run of my desk sometimes because she can't climb so she's stuck on the desktop. The other two can't get out of their cage because the top snaps on. If you don't want them climbing the sides you can have two options, vasaline on the inside walls or put a little clear nail polish on the sticky pads of their feet, make sure it dries before setting them down or letting them lick their feet, and their feet can't stick the the walls but they can still climb clothing and your hands.

My gosh, I had these guys for a week and now they are almost as big as Requiem. I fed them and they each ate about the equivalent of a baby carrot a piece, a lot for a roach, and they are growing like sprouts! I checked in on them today and had to look closely to tell the diffrence between the two girls. Morty is almost as big as them too, boys are usually smaller, and his horns are growing.

If she doesn't reabsorb them I'd expect around 20 but I don't think the egg sack is developing anymore, it's looked the same from the time I brought her home. I don't expect then until June if she does have them. Its funny the gestation period of a hissing cockroach is longer than a dog's. Are you wanting a baby when they are born?
