    Kitty has lump!!

Hi I got my cat Felix neurtered and first booster done on the 23rd of march.(well they done the second one first cuz they said it would be easier on him)Well on sat April 9th i noticed a lump on his left side right in the middle .Its about the size of a quarter and it hard. Its not bothering him in any way.So i called the vet and explained and they told me that it might be from his booster shot. The booster might not of dissolved and formed a lump but it will dissolve on its own.Well the lump is still there not getting a bigger or smaller.I have to bring Felix back for his next booster on tuesday so i will get checked then.Just wondering if anyone might know anything!!

Sometimes after having certain shots they will develop a lump, but it is usually gone with a couple of days. I would keep an eye on it and watch for any changes, but in the meanwhile before he goes back to the vet you may want to call and tell them that the lump is still there, just to be on the safe side.

It's good that you're going back to the vet to have them look at it. It's possible, like they say, that the booster may not have dissolved, but there are also cases of cancer starting where injections have been given, so best to have it checked out. Don't mean to scare you. More than likely it's nothing, but better to have it checked and be safe rather than sorry.

    Good luck!

    same

The same can happen in children (as well as us adults) when we have injections. It happened to my daughter in her thigh. Helped to disperse the injection by gently massaging it and it was gone in a few days.

Thanks to all that replied I have notified the vet of his condition and they said it can wait until tuesday.I am a worried because it has been a few weeks since his last booster and the lump only appeared on sat.and its still there...will be a week tomorrow!! So im trying to think positive in hopes that is only from the booster and it will go away on its own.Tuesday cant come fast enough for me i'll tell ya.

Would your vet just let you run in for a quick second to check? I dont do waiting very well either that's why I'd be on phone to them again.

    UPDATE

Hi i had Felix to the vet on Tuesday and they said that the lump is from the antibiotics that they had given him when he got neutered and that it should be gone within a month for sure. The lump is getting smaller now.Thats great news for us and Felix. Thanks for all of your concerns!!
