    Filou the Brat

We had another appointment today at the vet's for a third steroid injection and blood work to check whether it works.

Well, even half an hour before we needed him Filou was gone. Both of us were looking desperately for about an hour. We even rang the bell of neighbors etc because we thought (although we should have known better) he might have escaped.

One moment when I was on my knees looking behind the chaos under Siegmar's desk he came from behind. No idea from where.
But of course he did not want to be trapped. Took us another 15 minutes - 2 people chasing a little kitty cat through the bedroom, poking with a broomstick under the bed etc

Of course we were late for our appointment but the vet understood. She is amazingly good with cats and managed to get his blood while he was rather quiet. The urea in the blood is a little better which is a good sign because it shows that he is reacting. He then got another injection today and the next one will be when we come home from holidays.

Regarding his energy and stamina you should not think he is sick. BTW he got my blood- you should see my arms

Oh Filou Baby, why don't you know that we only want the best for you?

    Hockey gear

Barbara, once the chase begins, one should immediate consider putting on hockey equipment. I feel your pain.

I am glad Filou has shown improvement and hope the best for him in his next testing.

So what will you do differently the next time?

I can picture the event - been there, done that.

I have a vet appointment for annual check for Miley AND Chloe on the 26th of May. I am planning my attack already.

Sorry, but I just had to laugh, you described the scene so well.

    How do they know?

I'm glad his bloodwork was a bit better and I bet by the time you get back it will be even better yet.

Filou, you be a good boy for meowmy!

We have learned to not even say the words "Vet", "doctor's appointment" or anything that they might pick up........I swear they understand THAT language!!

When Lucky was going through his ordeal he must have picked up on my body language, the mornings of his appointments, he would not eat and hide until it was time.

Believe it or not, cats are smarter than us!! They just like to play dumb and like it when we search for them. It is amazing where they can hide when your trying to capture them!!

Have fun!! At least we know Filou is feeling better!! He's hiding

LOL! I know exactly what you mean Barbara - how do they know? I suppose they must be mind readers. It's bad enough to have to chase them through the flat, but getting ripped to pieces is a bit too much! You have all my sympathy.

I'm glad the diet seems to work and the urea in his blood is better - and I'm glad I didn't see this before Fister went!

    Kisses anyway to naughty Filou.

Cats ARE mind readers. It's a well known fact. I'm sure that clever Filou is even better than most.

Glad to hear that he is reacting to the injections. Keep getting better, Filou precious!

I think these little furbabies are psychic. They either read minds or they understand everything we say. Maybe we need to start spelling out those things. Needle....vet....ecc. Anything they may consider remotely unpleasant. LOL They are too smart sometimes. I am so happy to hear he is reacting to the shots. Paws crossed he continues to inprove. Good Luck sweet Filou we know you can beat this.

I agree that they must know something. When we have a vet appointment I take the carriers out and put them in the spare room a couple nights before we go and then hide them in the bathroom the morning of the visit, but they always hide. We have learned that who ever is going needs to be locked in their bedroom for easy snatching, but it is never easy.

Filou, you be a good boy! Glad to hear that he is doing better.

Well, I don't have a problem at all with getting my kitties in the carrier.....believe me, I count my blessings everyday.

Barbara, so glad that the bloodwork is showing improvement. Please pass on some kisses from me and while you are at it, take this hug or two for yourself. Please keep us updated.

LOL Mine are quite easy to catch. It's only when I have to take all three in does the third one get smart and run away . It's like that when I have to treat them for fleas every month--the third one, usually Whisper, will run until I "trick" him in to thinking I'm going to feed them instead. Maybe my kitties aren't real bright ?!?!?

Barbara, I'm so glad that Filou's bloodwork is showing improvement and I hope it continues. Cirrus is my wild child and I can't even pick him up to put him into a carrier but have to chase him into my bathroom and then put the carrier on one side of the toilet and chase him into it with a broom. For this reason he's not going to the vet unless he really needs it. Sunny is the great hider and one day I had to turn on the vaccum cleaner so it would scare him out of his hiding place. Luckily it worked. I sure hope that I won't have any problems this Sat. when I take Sunny and Sky in for their dental cleanings.

Please be a good boy now Filou. We all want you to get better.

I'm glad things are improving. Sorry, but I too had to laugh at the scene you described.

Hope your arms aren't too painful.

I noticed already that in cats smart = nawtee (Maybe it's not THAT different in humans? ).

Some more good news: we got our first ration of Science diet k/d and although he prefers Temptations he eats it
