    Our anniversary trip to Tokyo:)

As most of you know, it was my hubby and my two year anniversary last week We celebrated by getting reservations at a beautiful DoD run hotel in downtown Tokyo!! The rates are based on rank, so we ended up paying just about $100 for our room AND all of our food, including room service for breakfast! We spent the early part of the next day walking through the Imperial Gardens. Let me tell you what, it is sucha peaceful place. It's like a park with mostly trees and things, but everyone is so calm and quiet, it was just beautiful Here are some pictures from our trip
Both of us relaxing in the room:

Being goofy, getting ready to head out to the Subway station:

Neither of us had ever had room service before!!

    Cherry blossoms:

    Bamboo??

    Some sort of pretty tree

Annnnd some sort of pretty bush:

All of the trees and plants had names written on tags nearby, but they were all written in Kanji Being able to ask where the bathroom is in Japanese is a far cry from beng able to read their letters

First a clarification for people who don't have military in the family: DoD=Department of Defense, so that's who runs the hotel.

Lovely pictures, thanks for sharing with us! Spring is further along where you are than here in Massachusetts! Yup, that's bamboo in the "bamboo?" picture!

Great pics! Looks like you all had a great time! Those flowering trees are beautiful!

(Karen, thanks for clearing up what DoD is . . . I was confused! LOL)

oh yeah, sorry Karen I've been a military brat all of my life and sometimes forgot that not everyone is familiar with the terms. Most Department of Defense recreation facilities charge military workers on a sliding scale based on their rank in the military. Paul is still relatively low ranking, so we get a REALLY good price

I think it's part of their morale program to keep us people on overseas assignments from feeling quite so isolated.

Wow! What a great trip... and look at that beautiful table from room service! Loved the pictures from the Imperial Garden. I think the pink flowered tree was a peach blosson. I think.
