Urrgh, some people are so stupid.

I was sitting here and I looked out the window and saw a small dog running across my front yard. I went outside and the dog paused, but ran away from me. I went back in and grabbed a leash and some food. I went out and followed in the direction he went. I noticed some kids throwing rocks at him, which annoyed the heck out of me. I kept following him, trying to get him to come to me, but he was very shy.

Finally he ran into someone's backyard. I knocked on the door and a young woman answered. I told her that there was a dog running aroudn the neighborhood and it just ran into her yard, and I asked if it was her's. She told me she didn't know. I told her it was a small grey dog. She said "Oh. Yeah." Just then the dog ran out of the backyard and out into the street again. I said "Well, there he goes again. There were some kids throwing rocks at him. You'd better catch him." She had the most arrogant look on her face, and she just says "Uh huh." And closes the door right in my face. I waited outside her house for a while, but no one ever came out. The dog was long gone by then.

Do you think that I should go back tomorrow and get her address and give it to the SPCA? Obviously they don't care if their dog gets hit by a car, which would cost them a fine anyways, so why would it matter if the SPCA gives them a fine? The dog didn't have a collar on, so no tags, and I doubt it's lisensed. They absolutely hate that here. She could get a fine and have her dog impounded. Do you think that it's too harsh since this is only the first time it's happened that I know of? It's just the lack of care she showed...it was amazing. She didn't thank me, or even say goodbye, she just looked annoyed and slammed the door on me.

I don't think the SPCA would even do anything though. The last time this happened was back when there was a cocker spaniel on my road that raided our garbage and pooped in our yard and garden almost everyday. The SPCA didn't care, and animal control could never catch the dog off the property until it was too late. Maybe if I explain that kids throw rocks at him? I don't know.

Anyways, thanks for the vent, and any suggestions are appreciated.
    I've been BOO'd!

I would report her just because of the attitude she gave you.

Let's face it, if she cared, she would've one something about it.

It sad to see pups living in homes like that where no-one cares.
    I'd report it Jordan.

poor baby! I definitely think you need to call the SPCA, people like that do not deserve dogs, at all.

We were just driving home from the park a couple nights ago, and the sun was setting so it was darker out, and about a block from our house this dog was just standing in the road. I got out with Gonzo's leash and by then the dog had wandered over to a front yard. It was this adorable, very, very old Border Collie mix... he sounded like he could barely breath, he was gasping for air and was very stiff when he walked. I looked around, the dog wandered back into the road and I brought him back towards the yard when I noticed that the people had their front door open! I walked up and asked them, and they said they had let him out front to go potty (for atleast 10 minutes by now)... these people had a perfectly good fenced backyard, just were too lazy to let their very elderly dog into the secure yard or to put a leash on him and walk him. They just moved in, apparently it was acceptable to let your dogs roam into streets in their last nieghborhood ... anyway, I totally agree, people tend to be excruciantingly stupid.
