    midnight crazies

    Hi
I have a long haired kitten named KittyKitty. I know its normal to have the midnnight crazies, but is it normal to have them at 2 in the afternoon? Kitty Kitty sometimes has them in the morning and right after lunch, Or right when we get up! Another thing is his eyes. I have heard that normal cat eyes are slits most of the day until the night when he has the midnight crazies, but kitty kitty never really has slits his eyes are dialated all day long. Are these things i should be worring about?

How dialated the eyes are depends on the light in the area. If its bright in the room, they will be smaller. Its possible the your kitty is partialy blind or has a problem with his eyes adjusting to light. Does he act like he can see things in front of him? Some cats can be crazy all day long. My friends cats run around the house like a herd of horses. Got any pics?

cats can't tell time. When it's crazy time, it's crazy time! Doesn't matter if we're sound asleep! As for the eyes, I'd ask your vet. My Mishi's eyes are usually wide open - it's normal for him to look alert almost all the time. His pupils do react normally to light in all other ways, but when he's have a cuckoo fit, he gets that insane look in his eyes - I love my silly boy!

When Caleb was a little kitten, he would do that late at night and in the morning. Now he just does it at night -- his pupils will take up his entire eye, they get so big.

Yesterday afternoon Terry and I were in the basement. We kept hearing this thundering overhead...and it was a bright clear sunny day! Jack was experiencing about of the crazies and running back and forth like crazy.

Like someone else mentioned, the amount of dilation of a kitties eyes depends on the amount of light - except when they are experiencin the crazies. If you've ever noticed when your kitty is about to pounce on something, his eyes will get big and round and the pupils dilate until almost the entire eye is black - that is "the look" - and I love "the look." Yep, sounds like kitty is a pretty normal kitty.
