    Hello

    Hello everyone...
My name is MJ and I am new to the board. I have a chocolate lab named Havana.
    I have a quick question.....
My vet suggested I give her 1 tsp of Safflower Oil per 25 lbs to help her coat. She is a little over 50 lbs so my husband and I have been giving her 2 tsp drizzled on her food (twice a day). We started Sunday and last night she puked twice. Do you think it's from the safflower oil? It looked like she puked up digested food. It wasn't bile or anything like that. (Sorry if that was TMI)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    MJ

What a sweet face! It's like she's saying "Mud? What mud? I didn't bring any mud in, Mom!"

Maybe try cutting back to one tablespoon a night, and see if it happens again. Could be a one-time thing, maybe she ate something she shouldn't have (which I say just because she IS a Lab, after all)!

Welcome MJ!!! Oh, your Havana is such a cutie! My Lab Star often sports that same "nose"

The oil could be upsetting her stomach, especially as she's not accustomed to it. I'd start slowly, perhaps adding just a teaspoon once per day for a week, then increasing to two. Did the vet say 1 tsp. per 25 lbs? That would make it a total of 2 tsp. daily? Correct me if I'm ,osreadomg, but I think you're giving her a total of 4 teaspoons daily? (2 at each meal?) Might be a bit much for her. My girl is 54 lbs and I give her just one tsp. per day.

Feel better soon, sweetheart! Hope to see lots more of adorable you!

Welcome! that picture made me laugh- what a cutie! she has really pretty eyes. I'd have to agree that if she's not used to oil, it could upset her. Just cut back a little and add gradually. Hope to se more pics of Havanna soon!

I agree, I think start off slowly with the oil.

G'day MJ & welcome. I'm Trev and have two standard schnauzers. Havana has the look of innocence. That bart simpson line always springs to mind. "I didn't do it"
