    Meet My Baby Water Dragon!!

    I got my baby today

Everything is going good, I'm just sort of leaving him alone today and letting him explore his new home, I did manage to get a couple pictures though, it didn't scare him at all.

He doesn't have a name yet, I was thinking about Rambo, or Ace or something else, I'm open to suggestions

    His looonnng tail:

    That's all for now

    RIP Jasper. I can't believe you're gone.
RIP Tigger...I miss you every single day.

What a cute little baby! I didn't know what a water dragon was before, but are they also called basilisks or something like that? Is so, then I've seen them before in person at one of the bigger herp shows and they are neat little fellas.

Basilisks are really simular, basically the same to care for, but aren't the same thing.

No I don't, you can't really tell at all until they are bigger, I got tired of calling him "it", so now I'm just hoping

how are his eating habbits? what are you feeding him?? i would change his substrate to bark mulch, the slivers in the mulch you have can penetrate skin... Also crickets and mealies love to hide in it... is that a fake background of cactus? it is cool. i would love a background liek that for my beardy..

Thanks! He's eating good. Right now I'm feeding him very small finely chopped fruits(like strawberries/cantelope(sp)), but havent offered him that yet, today he ate a couple small crickets.

The crickets did go under the bark but I kept watching and they wouldn't stay under it too long and he got them as soon as they came back up and he seen them move, he's very quick!

Yeah that's a sand/cactus desert background, he actually thought the rocks were real and tried to go on top of them

    RIP Jasper. I can't believe you're gone.

Im using a red 150 watt basking light and a 5.0 UVB repti-glo day-time light, I don't think the temperature is quite right, it's close, but not exactly right, but he never feels cold or anything.

    RIP Jasper. I can't believe you're gone.

Wow he does look like a Basilisk!! Very cute. I have a brown Basilisk, used to have a green one. I have never owned a water dragon he sure looks cute though!! I'm not keen on lizards, mine are both rescues, but they sure are cute eh!

water dragons live in trees near water, not in a desert so I think you should chance the bedding (rainforest bedding) and probably the background as this suggest a desert.

He needs ofcourse some branches to clinb since he is aboreal ("tree living") and his cage should be at least 2 x their total length deep and at least 3 x as high.

males can reach 3 feet so they are large lizards

I suggest you take a look at the following links:
