    Dad and I 'saved' a turtle. :)

We were on our way out and spotted a turtle (or tortoise?) crossing a VERY busy road. (It's only busy at this time because highschool just got out) He was going to go right past it but I said "Dad, we have to stop." So we stopped and as we were getting out of the truck, ladies from the business right by the road were walking out. The one lady attempted to carry it but it jumped and scared her. So, my dad picked it up and carried it to the other side of the road, which there's a pond right there.

I know I would have felt horrible if we came back that way and saw it there hurt.

Just thought i'd share. I wish I had my camera, I would have taken pics of it!

Awww, that's very sweet. I would have done the same thing, I can't stand to think of any animal getting hurt. My boyfriend and I once saved a baby bird that was injured on our porch. It felt so good.

Awesome, Kay! Good for you! I love to rescue turtles too- I stop whenever I see them also. One time mom and I were getting going on the onramp to get onto the freeway and a turtle was in the middle of the onramp. Mom stopped the truck and I ran out, an old couple was behind us in a van, when they saw why they stopped they gave me a thumbs up and smiled. Feels good to help them, doesn't it!

    Wish you got a picture!!

    Good for you!

I stopped for a snapper. Only I grabbed his tail and dragged him to the side of the road.

    He was a big feller.

Good going Kay! I'm sure that guy wouldn't have made it as most motorists would think nothing of a turtle/tortoise...

I know. Especially since school had just let out and i'm sure the last thing most of the kids from the highschools around here couldn't care less about a turtle.
