    Getting a new Foster

Our organization is taking in 2 pitbulls that were confiscated by one of the suburban animal control facilities. Apparently the two were chained to a fence in a back yard throughout the entire cold snap we have had (temps in the below zero range). They are currently at the vets being treated. One had to have it's tail amputated due to frostbite and the other had frostbite on it's ears. Apparently they are totally emaciated and were fighting for life when they were first confiscated.

They are being released tomorrow, but animal control has no means of taking care of them while they recover - so we are going to take them on - get them better and eventually adopt them out. As soon as I get a chance I will post some pictures. I have been thinking so much lately about all the poor animals that have to spend all their time in yards chained up with little or no food, no human contact and no shelter. Pitbulls are especially suseptible to the cold temperatures as they were not bred to withstand the cold. It just breaks my heart to think about it. I get worried about my two if they are out more than a few minutes when it is this cold - I can't imagine anyone leaving them out 24/7.

We are naming the male - Brad Pit and the female Peach Pit so I was hoping everyone would give a little prayer for the two that they get better soon and soon realize that there are people in the world that are caring and loving people that will give them the lives they deserve. Also give a little prayer that they get adopted quickly as the Clara Inn is getting pretty full!!

    Clara,

I do wish you the very best with these pups. Brad & Peach
Pit. What great names. I hope their health is not too
compromised by all the neglect. You & your rescue group
are wonderful for helping them. Good luck. Maybe pictures later?

    Thank you Liz

I will be posting pictures as soon as we get them. They will look pretty bad - but we will get them well and work on getting them adopted.

    Thanks for the well wishes!!

    Here's Peaches

Here are some pictures I took of Peaches when I brought her home. She is very sweet and loving. She needs to learn some basic obedience and we will need to house train her, but I think she will make a great companion for someone in a few weeks. She has those yellow stains on her feet from standing in her own urine and feces. So sad. I have not tested her with other dogs yet, as I want to give her a few days to settle in. The vet did a great job and donated a lot of their services. Apparently animal control was going to euthanize them, but the vet assistant was so enamored with how sweet they were that she called us to see if we would take them on. Which of course we did!!

    What a cute face:

Even though she had been at the vet's for a week, she is still very thin - poor baby had no body mass to protect her from the frigid temps.

    Look at this goofy face

I'll have some pictures of Brad Pitt later - I am leaving now to get pictures of him at his foster home.

    Here's Petey

Brad Pitt's foster mom decided to name him Petey. He responded to it and he looks very similar. Here are pictures of the sweetie:

    What a face

You can see how thin he is in this picture:

Way to go Clara you are awesome. I love the names. One of my foster Pits is named Brad. We had two boys, but if one of them had been a girl, the name would have been Peach.

    Great minds think alike.

Petey is much more fitting though. He looks so much like my "white boy" in the face.

Good luck with these babies, my prayers are with you.

What a great story, well, not the beginning but the end, or I guess more accurately what will become the middle! Good luck to you and to them. Pat yourself on the back for what you've done (and are doing), you deserve it!

They are both really beautiful dogs! It's so sad that there's people in this world that treat animals like that...but at least there's people like you that are there to help. I hope you are able to find them both good homes, they deserve it!

Poor Petey, he really is sickly thin. I hope we'll get to see pics of them both as they gain weight and happiness!

They look so sweet, both of them. Pits are one of the
sweetest & most loving dogs around. It's so great that Petey
and Peach finally get to hopefully find great homes. They do look
terribly thin & a bit uncertain in the pictures, but some good
food & kindness can fix that. Please let us know how this goes
for these two pups. Good luck.
