    Kitten Disorientated...advise?...feedback?

    Syptoms:
    Walking Sideways, seems uneasy on her feet.
    Still alert, meowings ect


    She is left from 8am to 5:30pm with access to plenty of fresh tap water and is given about half a cup of Iams Kitten dry food in the morning. When I arrive home she seems to stumble sideways and seems disorientated but still alert..this has only happened on two occasions.

    What I am thinking is that she has "Dead" Legs from sleeping on them...when I arrive home she jumps up striaght away??? Not sure to be honest!

    These symptoms in all last for 30-60 mins......

    Help?

    Your kitten may have cerebellar hypoplasia (CH). You might want to take her to the vet. They are born with it and it's not life threatening as long as kitty avoids going outside. I have a CH cat named Diva.

    I think it's time for a trip to the vet. Pepper had similar symptoms once and it just turned out to be ear mites. She was stumbling and leaning her head to one side and walking in circles. Naturally, I thought the worse but the ear mites were easily cured.

    Please keep us posted on how your girl is doing.
    Ask your vet about microchipping. ~ It could have saved Kuhio's life.

    While I could guess at what the problem may be, a veterinarian is the only one who can diagnose your kitty's problem and dispense medication. I would suggest a vet visit for your own peace of mind. I hope it is nothing serious.

    If the kitten has a fever they will stagger like you describe. Usually with cerebellar hypoplasia they will act like that from birth, but not always. I've got five here that rule the roost I think a visit to the vet will put your mind at ease. If she is running a temp. she's apt to dehydrate much faster than an adult would. Has she been wormed, and had any vaccinations?

    Well she has her sterlization and 1st Vacc on the 19th of Feb so I will mention it then! It doesnt happen very often....in fact it hasnt happened since originally creating this thread & in the 3 weeks I have had her I have only witnessed it twice....

    Thank You for your help everyone, and I will advise as to what the outcome was for her!
