She is almost like having a little dog

When I am working I leave my office door (in the back yard)
ajar. It closes, but isn't latched.

Little Annie comes and goes all day. She just did it - pushed the door open with her feet - walked in and came over to me.
She put her front paws on my lap and said "hello" - got a scritch on the head and soon she was pawing at the door to open it and go outside again.

She does this many times a day - just dropping in for a few minutes to say Hi Mom!

My cat, Angel, likes to play "Fetch" with us. She'll initiate it by picking something up and jumping up onto my lap with it and dropping it in my lap. When I throw it she runs after it, sometimes slides right on by it, then "attacks" it, bats it around a little bit, then brings it back to me and we start all over again. She gets a "wild" expression on her face and in her eyes whenever she's in the mood to play this game. She really doesn't live up to her name ("Angel") very often!

She was eight weeks old when we got her in 2001. We took her to the Vet the next day and she weighed a total of 8 ounces. We hadn't ever had a kitten before, so didn't know how really small that was for an 8-week old kitten. She had been orphaned a few weeks earlier and the people we got her from had been bottle-feeding her. They had found the mother, dead, a day before they found the kittens. There were three of them, all alive but all very small. It was a miracle they were able to keep them alive until they were old enough to be given away to new homes. She had worms, which probably also contributed to her small size.

She is now a healthy adult cat, and we don't know what we ever did without her! The first time she went up to our two dogs, when she was big enough to get down the stairs by herself, she walked right up to Oreo and sniffed noses with him, then batted his nose with her paw. She has been the "boss" in our house ever since! We had "introduced" her to our dogs gradually before that, putting her in her little carrying kennel near them so they could sniff and get used to her without hurting her, etc. They were pretty much used to her, and she to them, by the time she actually met them without the cage as her protection. Now she teases Oreo sometimes, but pretty much leaves our other dog, Sandi, alone. Sometimes she'll move their water dish away from them so she can get a drink out of it. She'll move it all the way across the kitchen floor sometimes, if it's not too full or too heavy.

I could talk all day about our pets, but I'd better stop here. I just thought the topic of a cat acting like a dog sometime was cute, and it reminded me of how our cat loves to play fetch!

Soapets, first of all, WELCOME to Pet Talk!! And second, thank you for sharing your stories about Angel. It makes me so happy to hear that she has such a good and loving home.

I am glad to know that Angel has let everyone know who is Boss!

In my case, Rascal is without a doubt the King. He has kindly agreed to allow two little females to live in this house as well.
But he made it very clear to them when they first showed up - that he was in charge of everything in the house..........but if they were very very good, he would share.

Don't you just love how cats will communicate so clearly with you?
