    magic has a bladder infection

my male cat, magic, has a bladder infection. he saw the vet today (my wallet is wounded ). the vet has him on metcam for pain and keflex for the infection. magic is 2 1/2, today was only the 3 time he's been in the cat carrier (first trip home ,& his neuter ). he LOUDLY expressed his displeasure, and catching him to get him in the carrier was like a rodeo . he eats innova light, the vet may switch him to science diet c/d after the recheck on his urine. are there other urinary formulas out there? thanks, joyce

I'm so sorry to hear that Magic has a UTI. Did he also have a crystal problem? There are a few different Hills Prescription food formulas that help crystal problems. They are the C/D and S/D formulas. There's also one from Royal Canin called Royal Canin S/O formula. This is what my cats are currently on. It makes them drink more and pee more so it helps to flush out their systems. I hope that Magic recovers quickly and feels better soon. Good luck and please keep us updated.

I'm sorry about Magic and I know well how it feels to give meds to a cat against his will. I hope he'll forgive you. Tigris always fogot very quickly. And we have to get the meds into them. It's very important that he takes his antibiotics long enough so that the bacteria are not just knocked down (and can stand up again) but really gone.

    :)

okay, so he doesn't hate me, he got into bed with me this morning and demanded head rubs. i did manage to get him the pain meds, now for the antibiotic. thanks for the food advice. magic and mojo , his mother both have had bladder infections and they eat innova, so it's time to switch.
