    *Help?!? (Baybi won't eat veggies...uhhh)*

Okay all you 'tiel owners, you needa help me out.

I know that occasionally, It's good for 'tiels to have fruits and veggies.

    only one problem.

    Baybi hates them.

We've tried giving her apples, pasta, peas, broccoli, carrots, corn, etc. and she won't eat ANY of them!

Does anyone know how I can maybe get her to try fruits & veggies? I already know she hates it when it's cold. Once, she took a bite of a room-tempurature apple and jerked away. The only thing she will *nibble* at is parsley.

Right know she is on a diet of a mixture of a SF seed mix, Pellets, and Oats Groats. That's all she'll eat though. She has one of those "fruit 'n' honey" birdie bars, and she LOVES that, but I don't really know if that counts as fruits...maybe... I know it has raisins and nuts in it.... she is tearing away at it as I type. lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You need to be persistent. It took me MONTHS to get my tiels to even think of trying veggies when I first introduced it to them, but now veggies are part of their daily diet. Is she eating pellets, or is she just on her seed mix right now? Its very important to get her to start eating pellets, as well as fresh veggies, along with her seeds. Very important for her body. Birds need variety in their diet.

My technique in getting my birds to eat viggies was starting by locking them out of the cage, and giving them veggies in a plate, on top of their cage. I would hold the veggies, put it close to my mouth and 'pretend' to eat it...say 'Mmmmm' and act like I was REALLY enjoying it, and then offered it to them. It really got them interested!!! Give her veggies every single day. Be persistent. She's young...I just know she'll start accepting them, and enjoying them in no time.

With the pellets, I started by mixing it in their seeds, and slowly reduced the amount of seeds until it was just pellets. It was a 1-2 week process. Once they were just on pellets, and I could see they were eating it, I left pellets in their big bowl, and put seeds in their 2 smaller bowls. It works well that way. They eat both pellets and seeds everyday, as well as veggies and other foods, and enjoy all of them.

Thanks! I knew I could count on you to reply to this...

Yes, the pellets are part of her daily diet. She enjoys them, too.

I'll try what you suggested about the "mmmm" thing.

I just cut up some carrots and mixed them into her food... she's eating them! I did that 'mmmm' thing... it really got her interested! she was cocking her head, and insisting that I give her a bite.

    thanks!
