Frankie, my Betta isn't eating much

As you must of guessed I have a new addition, Frankie, a Betta.
He's a pretty blue w/ a little bit of red.
I'll take some pics in a week or so when I get him set up in his new 5 gallon tank.

    I got him Friday morning.

I know they don't eat much but he's really not eating much at all. Maybe just 1-3 small flakes a day, I'm feeding bettamin by tetra, which is what the store said they usually feed.
I feed just a tiny tiny pinch twice a day. Although he usually chooses to only eat once a day (sometimes night sometimes morning you never know) he will occasionally eat twice a day. But he only eats 1-2 flakes at each feeding and they flakes are ultra tiny.

I've also read that they can be picky eaters.

I've also considered the fact that he is in a new environment & a larger tank and may be stressed a bit.

But I still think he is not eating enough. Does anyone have any experience, knowledge, suggestions to offer? I'm worried. Thanks a bunch

My Betta LOVES bloodworms, you could give those a try.
    Hope Frankie is feeling better!

Every Betta I've had has hated flakes. I feed mine pellets (I think that's what they're called) Anyway, they're little round balls that float on the surface. My new guy only eats 2 a day because he's so small/young. My older guy (Flash) eats 3 a day usually because he's bigger/older (I've had him for almost 3 years).

I've never fed any of my betta's flakes, however betta's aren't big eaters. Mine will only eat 2 (sometimes 3 but not often) pellets a day.

Thank you joanofark for the great siggy

My bettas usually get "freeze dried red grubs" and pellets here and there. They LOVE the worms. A couple of times, I accidentally dropped too much food into their tanks and they gobbled them up before I could scoop them out.

My betta hates flakes. I feed him Wardley betta food. It's in pellet form. You can get it at WalMart for like $1.50

Thanks guys, I'll give the pellets a try.
I was wondering about the bloodowrms & grubs, can you feed them them solely? Or should you feed the pellets also? I read that betta food contains color enhancers, do they need the betta food to retain their colors?

I had my betta on only bloodworms before I added him to my large tank, he did wonderful on them. The flakes do contain color enhancers, so you can mix the foods if you like. Maybe bloodworms in the morning, and flakes at night.

Fish can go a long time with out food, sometimes weeks. Having to adjust to a new home could be stressful on him where he isn't eating.

Sushi (my betta) didn't eat for a long time, but now he is a pig.
