    Question Potty Training

When we first brought Madison (a 5 1/2 month old Westie) home my husband and I were living in an apartment where dogs weren't allowed... we were expecting to close on our house the following week, so we weren't too worried. Well, one week turned into 1 1/2 months... needless to say we trained her to potty on wee-wee pads, which worked great. The problem is that now we've been in our house for 1 1/2 months and she will NOT pee outside. I take her for walks, bring her outside first thing in the morning, I have brought her pads outside, then I tried putting her poop outside and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have a suggestion... I'm desparate right now!! Other than that she's the BEST puppy ever and I love her to pieces. Thanks in advance for any help!

    Re: Potty Training

My sister uses and still uses those training pads.

Umm My idea was to move the pee pee pads
closer to the door and eventually outside then
    ween her off.
I wonder if she will pee outside if she smells another
dogs pee that she plays with?
IF their is some dogs she is friends with, and
she is playing with them when they
pee, maybe she will too with your encouragement.
Just a thought, I'm stumped on this one..

    potty train

I have my Chihuahua pee on wee wee pads in the house. I plan on getting a doggy door very soon so she can go outside to do her thing when I am home. My neighbor told me about this today. He lets his pup out thru the doggy door only when he is home. When he is working, the dog stays inside with the wee wee pads. Our dogs are small and we live in townhouses. I would not let my chihuahua out during the day when I am at work, because I am afraid someone will steel her. She goes on the grass when I walk her. She does pretty good in house and outdoor training.

    Thumbs up Trying

Thanks for the advise. I've started her back on the wee wee pad b/c she was going on newspaper which has become "messy"... anyway, I will try moving the pad closer to the back door and hopefully she'll pick up... I would love to get a doggy door too... I bet that would work. Thanks again... I'll keep you posted.

another idea seeing she is a small dog anyway is to get her to go into a doggie litter box useing the same tacktic as to get her to go outside by moveing the piddle pads closer to the box untill its in the box them cut down the size of the piddle pad untill its completely gone and she is doing it by herself this will rid you of the hassle of looking over your entire back yard for poo and stepping in it and haveing to get a doggie door and all...your choice thou ..
