    What SUV should I get?

It is the end of the year and a great time for my hubby and me to buy a new car. We have agreed on a small SUV. We test drove a Nissan Exterra yesterday and was kind of disapointed. Anyways, we have Honda CRV in mind and a few others. What is your favorite small SUV? Can you tell me about it?

    Thanks

Check out the Hyundai Santa Fe - I have just sold mine for the deposit on a new one - in my opinion they are under-rated, and are lovely to drive! If you are interested you should check out the Santa Fe Forum here

Edited to add this link to a review of the car!

Well we are buying my husband's mom & dad's Suzuki Sidekick Sport next month. They don't maked the Sidekick's anymore.

My in-laws bought them a Suzuki Grand Vitara which I think is nice. If we had not bought my husbands parents vechicle we would have tried to find us a Grand Vitara.

I really like Suzuki's and think they are good cars. My mom & dad have a Suzuki XL-7 which they love!

The Hyundai Santa Fe do look like nice SUV's also. I really don't know much about them though.

I rented a Mercury Mountaineer for my vacation and loved it! I also like the Toyota Highlander.

I just asked the same question not to long ago...Here's the link if you want to read some more opinions...

I am still undecided, but I do know that I am going to buy used this time. We need our truck for my husband's racing and our car for his commuting, so this SUV will be our 3rd car. I can't see financing a 3rd car. I have it narrowed down to the Jeep Cherokee and the Land Rover Discovery.

    Thank you Wolfie!

We love our Honda CRV! We got it brand new in January 2003. We got the 4-wheel drive version, as we needed a vehcle that would go uphill (steep hill) in the snow, and stop when descending a steep hill in the snow.

Our CRV is green, his name is Turtle. It is a great car, gets decent gas mileage (26 miles per gallon), is big enough to comfortably carry 5 adults, or one person and lots of stuff. It is not so big, though, to give us trouble parking in any norrmal-sized space. It handles beautifully in the snow, ice, rain and every other weather condition we experience here in New England.

We test-drove the Toyota Rav4, and looked at other similar vehicles, but the CRV had the highest safety rating, and felt the nicest to drive. It also will hold its value over the long term, and they have a good record for holding up well in terms of maintenence and repairs.

    I highly recommend the CRV.

Definitely go with the Honday CR-V. We had one and traded it in last year. Great gas mileage, perfect size, nice handling, plenty of room (we went to my parent's last year for Christmas with all 4 dogs and the two of us with no problem).

The only reason we traded it in, was because my husband wanted the Honda Pilot, which is bigger. Every time they come out with something new he has to have it.

I have an 03 Jeep Liberty Sport and I love it! It's the perfect size for me and I got a great deal on it. Hasn't given me any problems except for the fact that now I can actually *get* to work in the snow No more excuses for snow days!!!
