How much is that meatloaf in the window?? Part Two

Kids and cats are so much alike.....

When they get real quiet you go into panic mode!

Let's go to mom's house Ed!

(you notice that most of our adventures happen in the vicinity of my mom's house.)

Ed loves my mom's kitchen.....When we go there, that's where he hangs out......

I go out the back door and grab some wood to stoke the fire....
I come back in toss some logs on and sit down before I leave.

That's when the the resounding silence starts to hurt my ears....

    EDDIE?

    I check the back door..

    EDDIE?

    I look out side...

    EDDIE!!!!

I go and tell my mom that Eddie's missing.....

You get that sixth sense about where kids and pets are the LAST time you saw them....He WAS in the kitchen..

    EDDIE?????

I grab the flashlight and go outside to begin the search.......

    EDDIE!!!???

I know he's not there because the dogs get excited and 'herd' him around.....the dogs are chasing me...

    EDDIE!!???

I go back in the house to check one more time and I spy the outline of a meatloaf in my mom's greenhouse window...

I start to laugh.....he was eye level with me in the kitchen, I just never looked up......

He has sitting in the window having a grand old time while dad aged another 5 years......

    LOL...I don't mean to laugh.........well ya I do..

Every night before I go to bed, I go around the house taking head counts. When I can't find one, I start the hunt. After about 5 minutes of checking, which I think is every possible place, out comes the one i'm looking for. I say, "Why the "H" didn't you come out the first time I called you," and I swear when they are looking at you all sweet and innocent, they are thinking, "Because it's fun watching you running around like a chicken without it's head on, trying to find me."

I love your stories RICHARD and i'm glad that Eddie had a good laugh watching you.

That story reminded me of Rascal - a few years ago I was getting ready for a meeting that was an hour's drive from home. I always do a head count before leaving home for the better part of the day, and I absolutely could not find her. I woke my husband and he helped me look and NOTHING ! I left for my meeting in tears. Turned out the meeting was cancelled and no one told me. Turned right around and headed back home, bawling all the way thinking Rascal had gotten outside somehow. They are not outdoor cats at all and it was in the dead middle of winter and that can easily be Zero degrees - I live in Minnesota. We hunted high and low in the house and concluded she really did get outside, so I opened my sock drawer to put on extra warm socks for the trek out there, and lo and behold, there was Rascal in my sock drawer !!! (she might've been meowing while we were looking for her, I don't know for sure, we are both hard-of-hearing.)

LOL... bad kitty! you should always let dad know where you are -- just because you're all white doesn't mean dad's hair needs to match yours. Please don't give him any more grey hairs!

I hate that when that happens! And all because we "assume" that they are going to be near the floor just because they're shorter than we are.
