A new member in my furry family

Went to the shelter to help out a bit Friday & an ity bity dwarf hamster was there. Oh she was so awful cute.
After seeing quite a few people looking at her & ending up adopting larger hamsters or just walking away I decided this girl was for me. So she came home with me.

Her name was Mica, but I already have a Meko, so I named her Chica, because she's a chick, has big cheeks & it rhymes w/ Mica, so I combined them.

She looks almost like an ultra mini flying squirl. She's grey w/ a dark stripe doen her back. Ultra velvety soft. I think she's a dwarf russian, I gotta read more about them when I get more time.
I used to raise regular hamsters years & years ago when I was young, but never dwarf ones.
She seems a bit testy only for a split second when your hand first invades her territory (cage) but otherwise she is the sweetest little thing.
    She is setteling in nicely.
I'll try to get pics later this week when my schedule settles down.

If anyone has any tips for a homemade diet I would like to know what you put in it?
I imagine it is "similar" to a rats diet (I make my own for the rats) but I do know they can't have any meats.
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

Congratulations. Looking forward to seeing pictures.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!
