My Lab is scared!

I have a lab/mix (see below! ahah) and she is terrified of thunderstorms. A couple of nights ago we had a real bad one. She sleeps with us every night and usually does fine, but once it started thundering she crawled inbetween me and my husband and wanted under the covers. Then she started panting and did this for 3 hours!! I woke up around 3:00am (you know when a child or even yourself cries very hard or for a long time...you get that hu, hu, hu, breathing?) well, thats what she was doing in her sleep! Are there any suggestions on how to calm my pooch during a storm? Or better yet, how to make it so she's not so scared?

my dog was like that .. it got so bad he almost passed out from fear.. what I did which is really exausting if you have to work the next day but whenever your next thunder storm is get up .. put lots of warm cloths on .. and get lots of treats really really good ones.. and take your dog for a walk be all happy and excited treating him every few seconds... first start in the house playing and treating then take it out side for a few min..

this worked for me the third time around my dog was perfictly fine other than the fact he wanted to play instead of sleep when a thunderstorm hit.. but hey thats better than being afraid.. and soon you can calm the play down too and say no sleep time.. hehe
