    Elephant Santuary (with Elecam)!!

    http://www.tappedintoelephants.com/asp/index.php

I just checked out the elecam here, but being that it's night time, I didn't see much. Looks like a wonderful santuary for them!

This is a wonderful site. I discovered it myself several years
ago & bookmarked it right away. I visit it often.I've come to feel
I almost "know" some of the elephants personally, because of
the great photography and beautifully written accounts of their
everyday lives. I've cried a little with a passing of some and
rejoiced in the progress & happiness of all of them. It's a great
    site. http://www.elephants.com/bios.htm

P.s. The Sanctuary is in Tennessee & the webcam best viewed
    during daylight hours.

It is a paradise for these lucky elephants. About as close to
their natural habitat (without the poachers) as exists on earth.

Several years ago elephants without tusks were being born in Kenya. It's a genetic mutation that poachers are making a mainstream trait. It's sad but it means more elephants will survive in the future as they have no economic value other than tourism.

Here's some pictures we took in Tanzania in the Ngorongoro Crater - an area well protected from poachers. The first two are of a male who is estimated at 40 years old. The third picture is of an elephant with a broken tusk. They are amazing creatures!

Winkie (one of the elephants at the sanctuary) came from a small Zoo in Madison, Wisconsin. She is a success story that the local animal rights groups have always discussed but since I came to Madison a few years after she and Penny were removed from the zoo, I never got the full details. Now I can read more about her and this wonderful sanctuary!
Thank you for posting this link, QSA. It's going under my "Favorites."
Beautiful pictures, Randy. I dream of visiting Africa someday. Elephants certainly are AMAZING creatures.

Many thanks to Roxyluvsme13 & k9krazee for my great new siggy!!

Wow, I hadn't heard that! Talk about adapting fast in order to survive! Kater, glad you're enjoying the site (I bookmarked as well). Great pictures Randy.

Thats so neat! A few months ago my cousin sent me an eagle cam that scientists put up in a tree to watch the eagles. It was so neat to see them fly in with food, fly out, and take care of the eggs. The eggs were fake but were replaced with the babies when I went to the site after a few days. I'll have to post that link if I can find it.

San Diego Zoo in CA. has several animal cams...a polar bear camera, and a panda cam. I'll try finding the links, and post those too.
