    Betta info please

My work has offered to let me get a new mascot at their expense(I bring my dogs to work w/ me everyday) But I need something on my desk. I have no pics only 1 crystal & one turtle dude.
I have this cute tiny space empty & need something there.

Since space is VERY limited & I have not fish for years I was thinking of a Betta.

    I have 2 questions:
    First:
There is really only room enough for one of those small betta bowls or something very similar, not much bigger at all.

Do you think that will be allright? I feel so bad for them being crammed into something so small but since they sell them and no other official betta aquariums I figure they must be allright w/ them then. Am I right or do you betta people find they are not happy or don't live long or whatever in the tiny bowls?

    Second:
Sometimes no one is at the office on weekends. Sometimes maybe on a Sat. but never on a Sun.
Can they go that long w/o eating or can I feed the fishy extra on Fri nights? Or do they sell a time released feed for bettas?

I live 40 miles from my work so me driving there Sat & Sun is out of the question.

    Thanks!
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

Try getting a one gallon tank with a filter. The 1 gallon tank that I have is really nice and it fits one betta just fine!

On Friday right before you leave fill your betta's tummy! Give him just enough to fill him without too much extra.

    Hope I could help!

Approximately how big is the space? Bettas will do fine without food on the weekend. At some pet stores, they have their bettas in those plastic sealed containers, so I doubt they are fed. Bettas do well in a tiny space, which is what I've read. I've also read that the wild bettas lived in the ox footprints and the bettas lived in the rainwater that filled the puddle. That probably isn't true at all.

Here's a site with tons of info about Bettas. I wouldn't recommend anything smaller than 1 gallon.
