    The Draft.

On Tuesday, the House voted against the bill to reinstate the Draft.

Please keep in mind that Democrats Rangel & Hollings introduced this bill, NOT THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION! (sorry, I'm sick of the accusations)

    Here's the article:
    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,134546,00.html

For those of you that think FoxNews is "Faux News" . . .
    http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/....ap/index.html

Think what you must . . . good thing is that it's not going through. The Democrats did well scaring the American public. Glad it didn't come back to haunt them.

If you ask me, the entire media is nothing but "Faux News" anymore.

    Thanks for both articles.

I agree . . . it's important to get the facts straight by looking at a number of sources.

And even then you have to read between the lines and see if you can get a source that was actually at the event in question! lol

    I'm not cynical at all...really....

How could anyone not be??? Seriously . . . the media has become a weapon and I'm afraid that a lot of Americans don't even realize it. So sad . . .

It seems to me to go back to the time of "yellow journalism" when you couldn't trust anything that was being printed because they could write whatever they pleased.

I saw a DVD that trashed Fox News and parts of it were quite interesting. (don't worry - I didn't believe everything that they said). But this was interesting.

The DVD pointed out that when Fox News wants to spread a story without real credentials, they'll use the expression "some people say"...

Listen for it - it is interesting because you can get away with saying any kind of outrageous statement by just starting the phrase with "some people say"...

I even heard Dubya use that phrase in his debate last week.

These are not the droids you were looking for

    Interesting...
Well, I'm glad there won't be a draft at least (hopefully)! Phew...

Ooh, are you talking about "Outfoxed"? I watched that on Friday night. It was good, but it depressed me, honestly. I can't believe they even call themselves a "news" channel.

What news channel would you call a news channel? CBS? NBC? Surely not CNN!

I'm guessing this documentary bashing FoxNews is as GREAT as Moore's Bush bashing documentary??? And we should DEFINITELY believe that what they both say is true. LOL

Liz, why no response about the draft? Isn't it GREAT NEWS that the Dems aren't getting away with their ploy?!?!

i'm feeling a little sarcastic today so take what i say lightly please.

Im just glad that people aren't going to be forced into this. Many Americans are against the war as is, a draft wouldn't add points to the approval pool

Its just like Vietnam all over again

No response about the draft because I'm at work and my boss has been in the past two days (a rarity), so I can't get on the internet as much - and I haven't had much time to read anything and respond like I'd like to. I would like to say that it is painfully clear our armed services are in need of more troops, and maybe bringing back the draft would be a good idea. Maybe people would actually think about getting out to vote if the draft was re-instated.

Besides, I think the harder question is - Why do you egg me on? Do you really want to know what I have to say on this subject? You, Pam and Logan in particular have made it clear that my views are not welcome, and I'm tired of being mocked and ridiculed. I think you know my opinion on the subject. I am sick and tired of going back and forth. No one is changing my mind on anything, and clearly no one is changing yours.

You egg me on to respond, because you can't wait to insult me and are condescending and rude. It's making me avoid Pet Talk altogether lately, which is sad.

Does that make you feel better?

Well Liz this was a pretty long response, so I guess you have a little time on your hands today. I think you pretty much find time to post what you want. Hmm.....

Sorry that you feel maligned but it is you, after all, who has been starting the threads. If you can't stand the heat, as they say, ....
