Ok,,, Merlin is busy biting at all 4 of his big ol paws,,,, they look fine,, no sore spots,, no sore spots,,,, yet he bites and gnaws,,,, could this be because he is just growing?? he doesnt limp and seems fine otherwise!

    Silly Merlin

Try giving him something else to bite, maybe he is chewing his nails, better stop that before he get in the habit, it took me years to stop biting mine. Just kidding. Silly pup, maybe he likes the taste, a little salty? Just watch out for compulsive behavior.

He has had his nails trimmed already,,, they are not long,, and he has like 10 toys to choose from,,, he is your average pup,, no weird behaviours,, just occasionally chews on his paws,,,, If he keeps it up,, I will call my vet,, I am thinking MAYBE its growing pains...

It is funny how we forget, when we got Tawny, I thought there was something wrong with her, really wild. Our vet reminded us that all pups are puppies. I think I got my nose bitten or scratched 8 times until she got her big teeth. Now she is 13 and a sweetie and I can forgive all the dumb pup things she did and remember with laughter.

    Re: paw biting

I don't think that is a growing habbit.
Sounds more like a bad habit. lol
Assuming he is not bored, no object in his paw, not sore, and
    no allergy.
He might just be obsessed with licking and biting once
    he starts up.
Once in awhile Rocky will start licking his paws.
    Once he starts, he would
lick himself raw if I did not put a stop to it.
Once he does stop he goes on to something else
    and forgets about his paw.
(I think with Rocky he gets bored or obsessed once he starts licking)

Echo used to do that all the time but we just kept saying NO when she did it and after a while she learned she wasn't allowed to do that. If he bites and chews them too much they can become raw and they may start to bleed but it will take awhile for that to happen.

My pittie "cousin" Targa was doing that to his paws, and the vet told his owner that it could become a bad habbit the same as how some people bite their nails!

Im not sure exactly how to stop it.

    RIP Jasper. I can't believe you're gone.
