TCHS Companion Walk -- lot of pics/2 videos

Today was the 16th Annual Tri-County Humane Society Companion Walk, the local humane society's biggest fund raiser event of the year. It's a 5-mile walk-a-thon and you can just donate and walk your dog or get pledge forms and collect donations of people to pledge you to walk. TCHS is where I adopted Tasha from.

I went by myself this year since David had some other stuff he needed to do today, and I just took Tasha since it's easier to handle one dog and because Tommy can be skittish when we walk through the downtown area. I guess since I didn't really have anyone to talk to, I played photographer mostly, so I have quite a few pics and a couple videos to share.

This was a cute little doxie that kept wanting to drink out of Tasha's water bowl. I brought water from home, guess she thought it tasted better!

This is Phoenix, he's the mascot of the TCHS. He lost most of one ear in an ugly ordeal with some kids and a bonfire, but now he is the cherished and adored mascot of the humane society and is gentle and loving to all people.


He is a BIG boy too

I was towards the front of the line so you can't really see how many people were there, but it was their biggest year yet for participation and the people stretched back at least a couple blocks.

This is a clip right when the walk began, it was total mayhem with all the excited dogs. Tasha is totally quiet though, none of the noise you hear is her. She is very happy though, she just loves this kind of thing.

It did quiet down after a few minutes

Thanks Julie, the greyhounds were one of my favorites too . Still have hopes to adopt/save a retired greyhound someday.

Tasha was posing for everyone of the pictures except for trying to walk you in the sign lol! i'm glad they had alot of people there to support the cause. How did they raise money? Was it if you walked a mile or so the shelter got money or how did that work?

That looks like a lot of fun! Tasha looks so happy. Duke gets excited like she does except he does it outside before we get in the car. Love the second video. That dog near Tasha sure liked to bark There were a lot of people there. That's good. Can't believe you even had some of the posse there. That's cool.

Tasha is a little ham for the camera for sure .

It was pretty informal really, they mail out pledge forms and you can go around and gather pledges from people or just pledge yourself and then on the day of the walk turn in the form along with any money you raised with people who pledged for you. There are prizes for people who raise the most (prizes donated by various businesses). Then we all just go on the walk, it starts at one park and the halfway point is at another park. There is a little bus that drives around back and forth and picks up people who can't make it the whole 5 miles.

Robyn, I actually pet that rottie and tried talked to his owner a bit but the guy didn't seem to interested in chatting. I was getting some strange looks snapping pics of various dogs too . I don't understand really someone not wanting to chat about their dog.

Once when Tasha stopped to greet the dobie, the owner automatically gave a response that she obviously has to give constantly: "Oh he's a sweetheart, he won't hurt anyone, he loves everybody." So I stopped and gave him some scritchies too.

Great photos, dog walks are such fun.

I too loved the photos of the Greyhounds, they are stunning dogs. And Tasha looks as precious as ever.
