Hi and welcome to PT. Yes, my cats do sleep a lot and this is normal. I think that most cats sleep between 16-18 hours a day. They aren't always in a deep sleep though and are usually quite alert to what is going on around them.

If you think the sleeping seems excessive (more than what krazyaboutkatz quoted), it would pay to see a vet as there could be some medical issue underlying the problem.
