    they are back.

The other day I went to see this ladies Gecko and I saw a very cute little birdie in the corner, He looked familiar. It was Cheeko. He was in very VERY bad condition. His cage had like 3 inches of poop on the bottom, and his water was pure yellow and thick. He had no food. and his nails were so long they were starting to grow into his own feet. I looked for Spring, and she was sitting at the bottom of the cage convolsing back and forth, they said she got bit by a dog .

So I took them back. Spring is doing much better now, she is in her own cage. and Cheeko is in his cage with a new Tiel that my brothers friends gave to me Yesterday.

    So yeah.

We have Cheeko, and Spring back now.

And a new addition Chipper a Grey and yellow male tiel.

(ps) my mom didnt mind taking them back but my dad was not amused .. . I am moving out anyways and they will come with me. So whatever my parents can just suck it up.

Jynelle, I hope things will be better for them now and that your mom will not give you such a hard time. How did they happen to be where you were? Was it the same person that your mother gave them to??

Poor babies. Give them a treat for me, please.

    Oh my gosh. Poor things.

I'm so glad you took them back, and I hope they'll be alright. How did you get those people to give them to you.....and were they with the same people you left them with?

They were not the same people that I gave them to in the first place, they were friends of the ppl.
I found out knew it was cheeko because the cage was the same cage and Cheeko was all hissy as usual. Pluse I know that Springs markings are unusual.
I just told the lady that thoughs were originally mine, and that I am graduated and have a full time job so I am able to care for them. Then I explained that Cheeko would need to have his nails and wings clipped on a weekly basis. the lady said that the birds were her sons, but that he didnt take care of them. So then she just hannded them over to me.

    Spring passed on last night.

Oh Jynelle, I am so sorry about Spring. Your earlier description didn't sound good, but I was still hopeful.

Were you serious about clipping every week, though? I have NEVER clipped the nails on my Cockatiels and only clip their wings about every six months. I was a bit confused by your statement.

I'm so sorry to hear about Spring. Sadly, this is what I feared when you gave them away. *sigh*

I was thinking the same thing. Their flight feathers don't grow back for MONTHS after you clip them. How can you clip them weekly? You need to clip them after every molt.

As to their nails, nails don't need trimming too often.......only once in a while. If his nails are growing abnormally, that could be a sign of a serious problem. You need to get your bird to the vet. Please. He needs a check up, after being abused like this by the people who had him.

Ps. Why did the people you gave him to give them away???

I have no idea why they gave them away.
Cheekos nails grow very long very fast. same with his beak.
His wings arnt as bad but they do grow fast, I may have exaggerated to the people to get him back because he was soo sickly. Chippers nails look fine though. We dont have a bird vet around here. just a dog and cat vet, they know a bit about rodents and horses too, but not birds.
