    I'm in the top 8......

Latin readers in the whole of Lancashire!!!!!!

*!!!bounces around room in ecstatic excitement!!!*

Well, today, Katherine (midget gem) and I went to a Latin reading competition in Manchester to represent our school. It was a strange competition, we just basically had to read a passage of Latin with the best accent and expression that we could. There were 42 people taking part in this group, all from the top schools in Lancashire, so there were some SERIOUSLY posh kids there.

Anyway, everyone read their part, and my turn went OK. After everyone had finished, the judges asked for a few minutes to decide the final 8. I really did not expect to get in, I've studied Latin for a year and a bit, but most of that was on understanding and translation of passages, not on reading actual stories in Latin! But then, many teachers from other schools came up to me and congratulated me on my fine performance ! One really nice lady said i had a lovely, flowing accent with a hint of italian when i read Latin! To say i was shocked and pleased are understatements .

Then the judges read out who was in the final, and said ME!!!!! I was completely dumbstruck, i sat with my hand over my mouth for about 30 seconds frozen solid, before Katherine told me that i looked really funny like that So i had to read again. I didn't get into the top 3, but i was so shocked to get into the final that i think i would have keeled over if they announced that i'd won!

But i'm so proud that i'm 4th-8th of the top Latin readers in my county. I'm really glad that i've represented myself and my school in a subject that i really enjoy. Katherine also did very well, although i did not see her performance due to being split into two groups, i'm sure she put in 110% I'm so happy right now!!!!!! Thanks for listening to me babble on !!!!!!!!!!

    Oh man, that's awesome. Congratulations
It's such a hard language! I'm studying Latin at school. I'm absolutely awful at it. I can't understand any of it and the simple translations confuse the heck out of me

Hmm this reminded me of the Latin homework I need to attempt tonight 0_o
