I think I did a real dumb thing yesterday...

I just got back from the grocery store and was getting out of my car, when this poor thin gentleman on a bicycle approached me. He said he was hungry and asked me if I had any cans that I could give him. Unfortunately I didn't. However, I told him I had some spare change I could give him. At the time, I had a few dollar bills and a $20. It was my allowance till my next paycheck which won't be till a week from this Friday.

I reached into my pocket and pulled out what I THOUGHT was a dollar bill and handed it to him. I swore I looked at it before giving it to him, but I'm not so sure now. He thanked me and went on his way.

Well, it wasn't until I was going through the Wendy's Drive-Thru did I realize that I THINK I gave him my only $20 bill. It was supposed to buy cat food and litter.

Then I thought maybe, just MAYBE, I put the $20 bill somewhere in my apartment so I wouldn't spend it stupidly. Can I remember where I put it???Noooooooooooooooooooooooo.

*sigh* Oh well, it's not the end of the world. I do have a full tank of gas and food in my fridge. Maybe it'll turn up, maybe it won't. Who knows. I just needed to vent.

    Thanks for listening guys!!

Oh man! That is so bad. I guess that guy really likes you now I'd be looking for cans now if I were you.

Well Donna, I hope the guy truely does spend it on food and not "drinks". I'll float you a loan.

The other day an old guy on a bike came up to my parents door. I opened it, holding Kia back (she wanted to be friendly, but by the way she was straining, HE didn't know that. )

Anyway, he just wanted water and so I found an old water bottle I knew my parents wouldn't miss and filled it with water and ice. He was SOO shocked that I had put ice in it that he started to cry. He just thanked me over and over. Later I found wild flowers left on the front porch.

Don't you hate it when you do dumb things! I do them all the time! Just the other day I was in a store. The bill came to $17.00 and I handed the clerk a $20.00 (or so I thought, until I saw the look on her face.) I actually had only given her a dollar and I joked and said "I thought this was the Dollar Store!" Fortunately she laughed right along with me! LOL! Hopefully that man will use the money for food.

Kimmy, your story is so touching I could almost cry. God bless that poor man and you too.

One day last summer it must have been about 95 degrees and the humidity was awful. The trash truck was coming down the street and I remember thinking how horrible it must be to have to work out there in the heat, etc. My next door neighbor ran into the house and brought a coke out for each of the guys on the truck. I was ashamed that I didn't think to do anything like that. All we need to do is look around and we can see so many people in need.

    God bless him

I'm more angry for my stupidity. Part of me still thinks that I put it somewhere so I wouldn't spend it. But I've torn my apartment apart looking for it and NADA!!!! I just hope my cat food and cat litter last till my next payday.

    Kimmy, thanks for the offer!

    Other than that, I'll live.

I can understand you being angry with yourself Donna - but the gentleman who received the money didn't know it was a mistake - I bet he blessed you to heaven.

Kimmy - your story made me cry - doesn't it just show how a little act of kindness can make someone so happy?

They next time you lose something, try this...

Turn off the TV/sterro and find a quiet place to sit....

Get comfy and walk yourself thru the situation.

Try to remember where you were, what you were doing-you'll remember what you did.

I did that with a friend, who had lost money in her apartment....

When she remembered what she did with the money-she jumped up and ran toward the spot whe had stashed it!!

    It really works!

Even though it wasn't totally intended, that was a very sweet thing you did. I think God works in strange ways, maybe that $20 made a really large difference to that man.

Gosh, don't you hate waiting until the next paycheck? I always seem to spend all my $$ about 2 days after a paycheck and then have to wait for 13 more....not fun.

    Kimmy, what a precious story.

I'm sure the man was really greatful!! Hopefully he'll spend it on helping himself instead of hurting himself.

I know how annoying losing money can be. I have a dog that likes to EAT money . Also, a couple of weeks ago I was at the store and I THOUGHT I had a 10 in my pocket...but nooo. I think I dropped it at the other store...well I hope SOMEONE was happy lol. Eh, I WAS at the dollar store when I lost it, maybe someone got something useful.

ramanth that was an awesome story! Im glad there are good people out there!

That is why you guys need a system like our money.

You would never mistake $1 for $20 because we have $1 coins and $20 bills are green. $5 bills are blue, $10 bills are purple, $50's red and $100's brown....... and ya'll can make fun of us for our monopoly money all you want...... LOL

Seriously though that sucks, but like others have said you have a credit of $20 worth of karma

    *Thanks Ashley*

I've always thought that. I would love it if our money was in different colors. When I go to Trinidad I know that for breakfast I use the green bill and for sodas I use the blue bill, I never get confused or have to stare at the money trying to figure out how much it is.
