What DO meat rabbits look like???

**WARNING!! Meat Rabbit Pictures!! These babies might not be saved, Please Do Not look unless you KNOW you can handle it (not Gruesome , just very cute and sad)**** Please read about our good news though!

(Even if you don't look, please offer us some good thoughts and prayers!!)

    GOOD NEWS:
8 rabbits are moving in tonight. 6 rabbits are leaving tomrrow. 4 are going to a foster home and 2 are heading to Kentuck and 2 are heading to Scranton PA on Wed. to another rescue!! I will post pictures of these sweeties later tonight.

No, they ALL aren't big, white and have pink eyes. Not at all. They look like normall pet bunnies. The kind you find in the pet store or in peoples homes. The ones who love there owners and binky around the room providing us with hours of intertanment. They are normal everyday rabbits.

That's so sad. I have never eaten rabbit and I never will!!! I've been a meat eater all my life and this thread is almost turning me into a vegetarian!!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

This upsets me greatly especially since I thought it was going to be about the 2-4 you were going to rescue. I wish there had been a warning at the top - I wouldn't have looked.

On a side note, rabbits that are turned into pounds/kill shelters are far more likely to end up on a dinner plate. I remember someone telling me about such a case in El Paso, TX.

Look at those poor feeties on that wire floor, the over-turned water/food bowls, the over crowding. I'm seriously crying looking at these.

This thread should have been in the dog house, with a warning.

Sorry, I never even thought anyone would be upset by these. I really am sorry Tonya, I didn't mean to upset you. ::hugs:: It is sad. I wish I would of had the warning up sooner so you wouldn't have to be upset like this. Sorry. I contacted Karen to move the thread, sorry again. I feel really bad. Sorry.

I hope they all find homes real soon!

If I lived closer I would take as many as I could in a second! They are all so adorable, how can anyone even think about eating them? (Well, I might have a different point of view then you becuase I'm a vegetarian).

People do eat rabbits you know

I hate to say this, but lots of folks eat rabbit. I don't, but there are many people who raise them for meat, just like chickens and ducks etc. I don't like the idea of "pet" rabbits being turned into dinner any more than the next person. I didn't read the entire thread, and look at every picture. Did I miss the part where you say how you know that they will become "meat rabbits".... ???

Anyway, I think these guys look like pets, but I suspect it has to do with more of how they are raised, than anything - not how they look to us. Some people do not make pets out of their rabbits - like cows - sheep - pigs - chickens..... and then eat them......
