    Disturbing website

A friend of mine sent me this website address because she couldn't believe it. I was absolutely disgusted...
    http://www.bonsaikitten.com/

Is this true?? Are there actually people out there that torture animals like this as a form of "art"? If so, is there anything that we can do for these poor kittens??

This site is a sick joke. I advise people not even to go to the website because it will only encourage its creators. I understand how difficult it is to ignore such a terrible story. I think the best way to defeat "bonsai kittens" is to ignore them other than telling anyone who asks that it is a sick joke.

If you need to know more, read a little history of this topic at The Humane Society of the United States.

There is no way to remove this story from the Internet or from the minds of its creators. I advise others to defeat them by ignoring them. There is a lot of darkness on the Internet and in the world. For my part, I will try to make this little candle of Cat of the Day, Dog of the Day, and Pet of the Day burn a little brighter.

Well said, Paul. The best reaction is to not go there!

Thanks Paul, I totally agree. I had never seen this before and my friend sent it to me today. I wasn't sure if it was real or not. It's really sad that there's so much darkness on the internet for our children to easily find (and me for that matter!).

I am so thankful for this site! It's so great and it brightens my day everyday before starting my work It's nice to see goodness like I've seen here available on the internet too

I first encountered that site a few months ago. Everyone was up in arms because all the Animal Welfare organizations were screaming about that site, and the creators were scratching their heads, saying "doesn't anyone recognize a joke anymore?" My reaction was manifold: 1)Some jokes are way too sick to be called "jokes" 2)Some people don'trecognize jokes, especially when they are presented in text only, with no facial expressions or voice inflections to take your cues from 3)There are enough sickos out there who would try something so bizarre even if they recognize that it is a joke 4)There are enough people who would think the site was bona fide who would attempt to try it. It makes me want to throw up.

I totally agree with you 4feline. I definitely obviously don't have that sense of "humor" that these creators have. I didn't find this remotely funny. This was my first encounter with this site, so I guess I'm a little clueless to stuff like this(sorry about offending anyone when I brought this up, but it concerned me and I wanted to alert anyone else who might stumble onto this site).

There is actually a petition that could help aid in the removal of this site (and other cruelty related sites) from the web.

If there is a possibility of having such sites removed, I'm all for it. Helping to stamp out bad sites one at a time is better than not doing anything I suppose(although I agree that ignoring them is another way to reduce reaction to the creators, which is what they want). There will be people out there that actually get ideas from this site. I was clueless enough to almost think it was (real)...

It not only burns bright, Paul, it is a beacon of hope and love for animals everywhere.
