    Say Goodbye to Fishies

My daughter has decided she's too old for her fish motive anymore and I'm painting over the mural I did when she was 11. Bye bye fishies. I'll miss you.

I have no problem painitng over them... but part of me feels "there goes my baby!" - meaning she's now all grown up. She's 14 now. Only three years since she BEGGED for the mural, but a lot of maturing happenend in those three years!

PS: The new design is turning out SO cool... I'll post it when I'm done. I'm rushing it because she's having a major sleep over in two weeks and wants a cool new room to show off to her friends... a room with no "new paint smell" LOL

What a nice fish mural.. too bad she's growing up and you have to paint over it. What's the new theme going to be anyways? I can't wait to see the new mural since the fish one turned out so nice I bet this new one will be awesome...

Goodbye fishies that is a very nice mural, but a change is good. I cannot wait to see what the new mural looks like.

I don't know if what we're doing qualifies as a mural... its just a bold pattern on one wall and dark walls all others. We're not even close to done, but here's the work in progress. It'll look great when done - I have some really cool things planned. She wanted tp keep the same color scheme - she likes that still, but wants to have an older look.

Of course its all done on a shoestring budget. All of the paint was "oops paint" from Home Depot - their mis-mixes that nobody wanted for $5 or less a gallon

I love the Fishies but the ongoing work looks very interesting - yep kids sure do grow a lot between 11 and 14 don't they?
Don't forget to show the finished project!

Wow this looks great, and I'm so glad you posted this. I always kinda wondered if "oops paint" existed, because I want to move soon and therefore paint my new place, so hopefully I can find something cheap and great! I love the colours, and I think those stripes will make the room look bigger. Lovely work!

Thanks everyone! First off, my neighbor is enlisting me to paint the fishies on her daughter's walls soon... so they won't be lost forever!

As for the oops paint, the best time to go is right after they have demonstrations or a big sale. A lot of their oops paint is the stuff they used for demonstrations or returns after a sale.

I shopped for a few months for her paint... they don't always have the right colors, so whenever I'm at Home Depot I take a look. As for the colors, don't be afraid to mix! The light teal was actually a BRIGHT green that was tempered by mixing it with a blue and a whitish grey.

Nomilyn... good luck with your move and happy "oops paint" hunting!

Sad to see the fishies go, but the new design is lovely. Love the colors too.

My room and bathroom was seafoam green. The walls were painted a very light seafoam green while the carpet was darker. I had a few posters and prints of dolphins and whales.

My friend would paint her own murals on her bedroom walls while growing up. If she got tired of one, she'd paint over it.
