    International Friends of Mango

Near the end of April we took a leisurely and overdue vacation to Switzerland, France and Monaco from our home is in Los Angeles. While in Switzerland, we the great pleasure of spending a day with Helena & Rolf and their Burmese cat Brumli and their Aby Faramir. Faramir, you may recall, is the guy who enjoys playing in water in the bathtub. He even played in the water for us.

Next up was Paris. Abycat Alice and her husband Magnus flew in from Sweden to join us touring Paris. We had a terrific time with them going from the top of the Eiffel Tower to the Catacombs and a lot of other places. A picture of us at a restaurant called Le Train Bleu at the Gar de Lyon:

While we were at the restaurant a cat wandered through heading toward an outside door. A waiter hurried over to let him out and a few minutes later another waiter let him back in. He wandered through the restaurant getting patted by the patrons and the head waiter snagged a bit of fish from the serving tray for their cat, Mr. Polo. After we took pictures of Mr. Polo our waiter stopped by the table with the restaurant’s business card asking if we’d email them the pictures. They are proud of their cat!

After a week we parted company and Alice & Magnus headed back home and Bev and I boarded the TGV (high-speed) electric train to head south to Monaco. It was a great vacation.

    Aby people are very special!

That is so neat that they let a kitty have free roaming of the cafe, that is MY kind of place and I would go eat there just so I could pet the cat!!

The beauty of those abycats just take my breath away!! I am in awe of them everytime I see them posted.

Even though he is a popular resident of the restaurant, I figure Mr. Polo has a job making sure rodents aren't a problem in that old building. We did see a kitty in tea shop near the Centre Pompidou too.

Hmmm. .. I wonder if that fish came from the Seine of from one of the brasseries? Imagine if he snatched that off someone's plate from a sidewalk café.

I forgot a story about Faramir who, by the way, isn't allowed outside these days. He slipped out recently and slipped into the next door neighbors house unnoticed by anyone. He discovered their pet hamster in a cage and somehow got the cage door open (Abys use their paws like hands). Faramir's mistake was that the cage was too small for him but the hamster was too great a temptation so he climbed in anyway. When found, Faramir was stuck in the cage unable to move and the hamster was under his tail - safe and sound. He is now unwelcome in the neighbor's house as you can imagine.
