I wasn't going to tell you all because it is depressing news, but I can't get it out of my mind. Today, I was driving to work down a busy road. It has four lanes plus the turning lane. This grey and white fluffy kitty darted across the traffic. She was almost to the curb, when she realized she was in danger and darted back across. Then she stopped in the turning lane. To me, it felt like an eternity that she was darting back and forth, totally spooked and couldn't decide which way to go. She finally stopped and crouched in the turning lane.
I didn't care. I put my truck in park right in the lane and got out to get her. She got spooked by me and ran right in front of another car that barely missed her. I realized that she was even more likely to get hit with my chasing her, so I let her be.
I called Animal Control, who of course couldn't help. I hoped for the best, but I had that feeling. I'd hoped to God that she'd made it safely across. Well, a few hours later, I drove back down the road to see, and she was dead in the road. I am so upset about it. I've been crying most of the day. I'm sorry to be so depressing. But I saw the fear in her eyes, she didn't know what to do. She was so close, but so far from me. She had a collar on, how could anyone let their cat roam free on such a busy street?! I feel really sad about it.
BTW, I am sure that you don't want a mental picture, but she looked like Edwina's cat's kitty, Eddie but with a little longer fur. I don't really know if it was a boy or girl kitty, I'm just calling it a her.![]()
