Bruno is a toy pug 10months old,he was given to me by my sister in law. It all started by me going over to her house for my birthday cake there he was limping because he fell off the bed and fractured his hind leg.She took him to an orthopedic and they put pins in his leg. But while at home he was still limping. The day I went over to her house she was telling me that he was very hard to train because he could not go up or down steps so she had to pick him up and and take him herself she also explained that she has very busy days (two little boys and a husband) so she was hardly home during the day to take him out. Being that I was such a dog lover I said to her if you want I can take him home and try to train him for you so I did, time went by and we spoke on the phone everyday talking about his progress (he was doing well) She decided that I should keep the dog as a gift because of all the attention I could give and she could not. With that she explained that Bruno has a lump on his backside he was born with it, the doctor she had taken Bruno to said that that lump can cause problems for him in the future. Weeks go by I noticed that Bruno's walking was getting bad. (not being able to stand and dragging his hind legs so I decided to bring him into my vets office gave him all of Bruno's medical records including xrays he took a look at them and explained the pins that were put in were fine so he decided to send Bruno to a Neurosurgeon one of the best board certified. Upon taking him there the doctor decided to take an MRI on Bruno so I had to leave him there overnight which made me very sad. When my husband and I left I was crying because in my gut feeling I knew the doctor would be calling me with the worst news, he would call me later that day to let me know the results. I tried to think positive all day. He called and it was the worst I thought it maybe he has Chiari Malformation a complex development disorder involving the caudal brainstem, cerebellum and cranial cervical spinal cord that is found in people. His was so server that he gave me a less than 50% chance surgery would work.(I lost it) the doctor said before we go ahead with surgery lets try some steroid an anti-inflammatory medicine. See Bruno was born with this so he knows nothing but this is normal pain and he lived with it. I was very heart broken and we started his medication I set my alarm for every 12 hours. He did improve but just a little bit and the medicine is causing server diarrhea and now they might have to take him off of them. I just took him out and noticed that he was not doing so great again. He has another appointment with another neurosurgeon on April 1, 2004 for a second opinion and then has another appointment on the 5th with the other neurosurgeon for a recheck. Today I ask you and others to pray for Bruno he is so young he needs a chance for a normal puppy life. Thank You Lady, Petey, Fish, And Bruno most of all Thanks You for your support.
