    Cats Fighting, Worried !!!!!

    I have 2 male cats, one 7 one 3 years old, the 7 yr old has been neutered, the 3 yr old has not. both have their claws, and are strickly indoors cats. both have their claws. both have lived in the same house since they were kittens. & both have gotten along great, UNTIL YESTERDAY, all of a sudden, they start growling & hissing & attacking at each other, and haven't stoped. How come all of a sudden this is happening? it is getting annoying, they fight all night & keep the whole house up. I'm worried, Is something wrong? what can I do?

    I think I'd schedule a neuter for the three year old pronto! He's probably getting aggitated with all the hormones coursing through his body being springtime. This should probably solve the problems quickly. I'd keep the 3 year old separated for several days after surgery as anesthesia can cause them to smell foreign to other cats. Good luck. Low cost available through Friends of Animals 1-800-321-PETS and ask for a list of vets in your area.

    welcome to PT chefonthego. Has it gotten any better? Maybe there was a female in heat in the area and that's what bothered the guy.

    Welcome to Pet Talk. I agree with the others. Please get your 3 year old cat neutered. This will help to calm him down. Good luck and please keep us updated.

    BTW my cat Storm,8 years old, and my cat Cirrus, almost 2 years old, also fight. Storm doesn't like Cirrus and chases him until he hisses and growls at him. Luckily Cirrus is very afraid of Storm so he doesn't fight back. All 4 of my male cats are neutered. Sometimes cats will never be friends and only tolerate each other.

    Agree with all above, neuter NOW. When my D-in-Law moved in with me with her three cats to add to my two (not to mention her extra dogs with mine ) they all kept their distance but have now accepted each other. An occasional "slap fight" with eyes closed but silly noises.. but get your younger cat "fixed" even if he doesn't think he's broken

    There's your answer right there. QSA is right. Get the 3 year old fixed pronto and the problem should correct itself!
