    Songs

Do you sing songs to your animals??
If you do... what song(s) do you sing?

I always sing "You are my sunshine" to Buddy and Sierra.
Buddy just cocks his head and listens to me. Sierra howls like a crazy dog till I'm done!!

I use to sing just anything and everything to Maddie.
The two main staples though were: "The Lone Ranger
Theme Song" and "Moon River" and I'd just substitute
her name for the lyrics. She just loved that.

For Oz I sing, "We're off to see the Wizard". He loves
the because, because, because part. I'll sing whatever
tune's in my head at the moment too. I was singing
"Only You" the other night to him, while I was giving
him a bath. He's not overly crazy about bath time, so
I think the singing soothes him.

Murph not so much. He doesn't really seem to take
any notice of the singing. So although I'll be singing
around him, because I'm singing around the house all
the time, I don't really have a special song for him,
like Oz and especially Maddie. I did it more towards
her, because she really seemed to get into it.

    Par...

My mom sings "Do your ears hang low?" to Duke and plays with his ears while doing it. He loves it!

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

I used to sing to my old roomate's cat and he's get airplane ears and howl and hiss. One time, he actually slapped me. lol. It used to make my roomate crack up. (I sing really really really bad.)

I sing to Lovable all the time.
Here are two reworkings of musical favorites

To the tune of It’s Almost Like Being In Love from Brigadoon

What a day this has been
What a rare mood I’m in
Why it’s almost like being a cat

There’s a smile on my face
    For the whole feline race
Why it’s almost like being a cat

All the sounds of the world seem to be
Like a kitten that’s purring for me

And from the way that I feel
When that meow starts to peal
    It’s almost like being
    It’s almost like being
It’s almost like being a cat

To the tune of Wouldn’t It Be Loverly from My Fair Lady

All I want is a cat somewhere
Close to me in the warm night air
    In one enormous chair
    Oh wouldn’t he be lovable

Lots of good food for him to eat
Lots of fur making lots of heat
Pink nose, pink ears, pink fee
    Oh wouldn’t he be lovable

Oh so lovable, lovable lovable lovable lovable
I would never budge when he
Crept off of my window sill

One purring cat curled up on my knee
Warm and tender as he can be
Taken good care of by me
    Oh wouldn’t he be LOVABLE

I take any tune that's stuck in my head and turn it into a song about the kitties. Nathan used to think I was nuts but now I catch him doing it all the time, too LOL!!!
