    First treat!

I've been trying to give Hobo treats since he got here, but being a working dog his whole life, he had never had treats and didn't have a clue what to do with them. He didn't even realize that a pig's ear was edible!!

A couple days ago, I bought Muskwa a beef tendon to chew while he had to stay in the truck for a couple hours. Hobo found it later and claimed it as his own. It's been devoured now! Guess I'll have to get some more. The little guy loves 'em!

    It's mine right?

I'm not taking my eyes off you. YOu might take my new treasure!

    Chowing down!

Glad that Hobo is enjoying his new discovery It broke my heart that he didn't know what treats were about. Am I overreacting? Do all work dogs not get treated?

Those pictures are wonderful! His eyes are soooo beautiful!

Yeah, it made me sad that he didn't know what a treat was, too. Glad he's finding out about the good life that dogs can have.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

I don't think most working dogs get milk bones and pigs' ears. But I know many get raw bones to gnaw on by their houses. Hobo knew what bones were and loves them. Treats for sled dogs are usually things like small pieces of frozen fish or other meat.
