anesthetic and over weight cat (dental)

hello.. my cat pepper is getting dental on wednesday.. she went today for blood work and will get the results tomorrow.. she also had an anitbiotic today as well... the vet said she is overweight and anesthetic could be a risk.. she is 15 pound tabby cat... any one else have a chubby cat go under anesthetic? was everything okay?? I was told the anesethic today is much better than the anesthetic used in the past and that is does not linger in the fat tissue like it once did. and that pepper should be okay but I still worry..... taking every precaution but i still worry
need some support,.. this is my first day on the board
thanks

Hi mspepper and welcome to Pet Talk. I've had 2 of my 4 cats teeth cleaned before but they weren't overweight. They also had bloodwork done to make sure that everything was okay before putting them under with anesthesia. They never had any problems. I'm sure that Pepper will do just fine. I know it's hard not to worry about your baby but try not to stress out too much.

Prayers and positive thoughts are being sent your way for a smooth and successful teeth cleaning. Please keep us posted.

Welcome to PT, mspepper. My Mitzi is "plush" and she underwent her teeth cleaning this past December without any problems. It is worrisome when our babies go under anesthetic or any vet procedure. I'm sure she'll be fine. Mitzi bounced back immediately - asking for food (of course!) as soon as she got home. I'm sure Pepper will be fine. PT prayers will help too. Keep us posted and let us know how it goes and as soon as you can, we always like pictures.

Welcome to PT! I'm sure that everything will be fine! We will say some prayers just to be on the safe side!
I too have a "plush" kitty but she hasn't gone under since her "plushness" has increased!
Keep us posted on how things go.
