    bulldog question

Maybe I could rephrase this one. At what age would you say a bulldog is a senior citizen. He seems to sleep maore than he is awake now?

How old is your bulldog? I just looked up their average life expectancy, and it is 8-10 years old. But it varies dog to dog, of course, our Great Dane's life expectancy was listed at 8-10, and she lived to be 14 1/2.

Wow good for your great dane. Mugsy will be 8 in June. He does look great he has just been sleeping so much more. But everything else is normal, eating etc.....They are not high energy dogs to begin with.

Get the dog to a Vet

In general dogs do not get more tired due to age. They become more tired due to undiagnosed illness. This is assuming the dog's environment, and diet have remained constant.

You should have a full blood panel run. Besides checking for the usual things such as CBCs, blood sugar, also make sure serum calcium, potassium/sodium, and lactic acid levels are checked. A liver profile should be included. If this comes back all negative then consider running tests for thyroid hormone levels.
